The trailer for DRAGONBALL (now apparently retitled DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION for some reason) is now online, and since I can't properly articulate my reaction, I will leave that to you.

The movie (adapted from the endless manga/anime) stars Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, Ernie Hudson, Emmy Rossum and Chow Yun-Fat. James Wong (THE ONE, FINAL DESTINATION) directs the pointy hair and explosive punching. Check out the trailer at IGN.

still not sure but ...
Ok, so the first teaser that came out made me not want to see this movie at all regardless of enjoying the dragonball series as a child... it looked like Fast and the Furious meets Spy Kids... now that the new international trailer has come out... it's gradually looking a bit better....it still has that spy kids flare to it but it also has this Mortal Kombat thing going on as well ... so it...

ya kno, the action look cool, dragonballish, but why the fuck did they replace the whole saiyan story with this chosen one bullshit. the most intriguing part of dragonball, the biggest catch, was that he was like superman and his backstory was to actually kill everyone but he hit his had and had amnesia etc. and whats this crap about some dudes makin dragonballs.

i'm not that into the...

Crappy so far...
1-I'd rather jerk myself off with a fist full of broken glass than pay good money to see this.



2- Speed Racer was underrated. I enjoyed it a lot.

This is another of those projects that for the life of me I can' figure out why the excellent Chow Yun-Fat is doing these garbage products. This looks like a 12 year old boys version of "Bratz" Terrible.

I don't think there's enough weed in the state of California to make me enjoy this movie, and there's alooot of weed here. Unless 45 minutes of this movie consist of screaming while in horse stance, glowing, and hair color changing, then it can't be called Dragonball.

this looks like shit. it should have been made in a style sort of that of the speed racer movie, but obviously instead made to feel like dragonball. this looks like a poor man's version of the mortal kombat movie. i am deeply sadden:(

i think i feel the worst for Rossum, shes easily too talented to be in this, Chow Yun-Fat i can excuse, maybe he wanted to buy a new house or something and this was a quick paycheck. also i think they missed their mark to ride the Dragonball money train, that was about 8 years ago when it was big in the US. after watching The One again this past weekend i dont see anything good coming of this...

I guess they took the title evolution to heart, the trailer is way better than the original and what I was worried about has been fixed, Piccolo being green, I had heard he would eveolve further in the film and would reveal his true form/color, I gues those rumers were right.



I'll admit it I wasn't too keen on seeing this film but as a fan of the show and now the new movie...

While never a DB, DBZ, or DBGT fan I respect the property and did enjoy a few arcs of the series (Cell saga, in particular). This trailer looks fine to me. The effects are cartoonish, the characters seem appropriately understated (truth be told, in the manga and anime they were only as "epic" as the current storyline was), and it's changed just enough to garner a reaction from source fans and...

You can't please anyone, and I think a Wachowski "Speed Racer" style visuals would best be suited, but I think this will be okay. I'm not sure "fun" is the right phrase just yet, but it has the potential to be so... and, not to burst anyone's bubble, this flick is probably going to make a killing in Japan, and do modestly in the US- this is probably just the beginning.
