Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler to join forces again for untitled comedy

Mar. 12, 2013by: Niki Stephens

We leap from one Adam Sandler project to the next. Maybe I was right about the whole "a new month, a new Sandler movie" thing.

This project sees Sandler working again with Drew Barrymore. The untitled comedy for Warner Bros. will see the two as single parents who after an awful blind date wind up stuck together at a family resort with their children from previous marriages. Yikes. Frank Coraci (CLICK, THE WEDDING SINGER) will direct a script from Ivan Menchell and Clare Sera.

Look at that header photo. Remember those days? Then after THE WEDDING SINGER the two worked again on 50 FIRST DATES. It's been a long while since I've seen that. It's actually sort of depressing. It definitely hasn't received as many watches from me as THE WEDDING SINGER has. I'm actually do for a rewatch on that one. I like when these two get together. Here's hoping that this film will be a good one.

Extra Tidbit: Drew Barrymore has her own wine.

Seems like a step in the right direction

I loved Ckick and Wedding Singer so having the director of those 2 is a big jump start, I also feel like 50 First Dates was one of Adam Sandler's last films to really work the balance of humor and heart.

Sandler desperately needs a good comedy, but considering Grown Up's 2 is heading our way this year. It wont happen for some time.

I'm worried though. If it turns out to be great like The Wedding Singer, I'm all for it. However, if it turns out like Grown Up, then we're doomed.

If it will be anything like recent Sandler output...

...(Jack and Jill, Grown Ups) or, for that matter, MOST of the Happy Madison movies of the past decade, the script will seem like it was written in one night over way too much Tequila. Everything is much funnier when mixed with Tequila. Shooting commenced the next morning.

Depends on the comedic tone on the film. If it's in the same comedic vein as Wedding Singer than great, if it's like 50 First Dates then fuck yourself Sandler.

This is Good News

I am glad that these two will be working together again. I am not digging the premise but if they can sell "a man makes a woman fall in love with him every day," then I think they can make this work as well.
