Transformers - October 16

The quick turnaround from theatrical release to DVD release can sometimes be a pain in the ass, especially when you're doing a couple of weeks in county on your third drunk driving charge and the courts are figuring out what to do with you. I don't mind just waiting for DVD because then I'm not distracted by some jagoff in front of me checking his phone for a non-existent text or missed call. Oh well, I still got to see world devestation and big f*cking robots beating the shit out of each other. Artwork for both editions below and detailed specs for the SE is also listed.

Live Free or Die Hard - November 20

I'm a DIE HARD purist. And I hate purists. But I love me some John McClane. I saw the second DIE HARD in the theater and even as a young Moreno I knew it was crap. DIE HARD WITH A VENGANCE was the chit and LIVE FREE or DIE HARD is a worthy addition to the series. Let's just forget the second one ever happened, okay? The Unrated edition makes things pretty interesting, since LIVE FREE was a PG-13 flick. Hey Hollywood, enough with the watered down PG-13 horror and action flicks, grow some balls and release flicks that stay true to the character and the environment in which these stories are being told. No? Oh, okay.

Considering the edits of extra f-words in LFoDH are about as obvious as MTV rap video edits. Making an "Unrated" version shouldn't be a problem.

Good news overall

I loved Transformers (but that cover art is pretty lame, I'm sure there'll be some 3-disc collector's edition out in the next year or so), I loved Live Free or Die Hard (and I'm excited for the unrated cut) and I enjoyed Fantastic Four 2 (even though "Power Cosmic Edition" is pretty much the dumbest thing I've ever heard). However, I just bought Hot Fuzz only a month ago (still haven't watched it though) and already they're releasing a 3-disc collector's edition? That's retarded...

Guest

My initial thought for the guest on the Hot Fuzz commentary was Robert Rodriguez. Why not? Edgar Wright did "Don't" for Grindhouse. Then, I figured it might be Cate Blanchett. She did a cameo in the movie. But then I wondered if it would be Nick Nolte or Eddie Murphy. 48 Hours, anybody? Maybe even Keanu Reeves or Pat Swayze. Point Break, bro! Maybe it's Carrot Top or Kevin Smith... watch all my guesses be wrong.

And F4: Power Cosmic Edition?? Dumbest DVD title I've ever, EVER heard.

WHAT THE FUCK!?!!

Already double dipping on Hot Fuzz...I'm seriously pissed about that one! And doesn't that Die Hard 4 cover look a little too much like Willis' 'Tears of the Sun' cover?? And could that Transformers cover be any more generic? I think I'll see more of Megatron on the Best Buy endcap displays on that shit cover than in all of that stupid movie!

Wow! That was pretty fast for a CE of Hot Fuzz. All I can say is that I'm glad that I waited.

As for Live Free or Die Hard, I have a feeling they'll come up with a R-Rated Special Collector's Whatever.
