Dwayne Johnson may produce and star in a movie based on a napkin drawing

It goes to show, you really don’t need to have much more than a Starbucks napkin and a pen to get a movie made in Hollywood. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that based on an image drawn on a napkin along with a mock motivational poster online has gotten the greenlight as a potential franchise at New Line Cinema with the producing team behind JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND and megastar Dwayne Johnson.

The image, seen above, was drawn by Alex Panagopoulos and was then captioned “Teddy Bears: Protecting innocent children from monsters under the bed since 1902.” This was enough to warrant buying the rights to the picture. The film, tentatively titled TEDDY BEAR, has no plot details, but it seems a dead giveaway that it will be a mix of MONSTERS INC and TOY STORY. Dwayne Johnson may star in the film which makes me wonder if it will be live action due to the massive success of Seth MacFarlane‘s TED.

Either way, this could be awesome or another forgettable family flick from Johnson (see TOOTH FAIRY and THE GAME PLAN). In the end, Johnson is a very likeable actor who does well in action movies. Depending on how they spin this project, it could be a disaster.

What do you think? Good idea or is Hollywood scraping the bottom of the barrel?
