Dwayne Johnson-starring Lore lands new director

It was almost a year ago when we last reported on the upcoming adaptation of the IDW graphic novel LORE when MEN IN BLACK director Barry Sonnenfeld has jumped onboard to helm the Dwayne Johnson-starring project, but in the time since that story it seems that Sonnenfeld and the studio couldn’t agree on a budget so Sonnenfeld stepped down as director of the film (but reportedly will receive an executive producer credit), making room for neophyte director David Green to take the reigns.

The Hollywood Reporter has dropped the news on us that ECHO director David Green has closed a deal to helm LORE, an adaptation of an IDW book/graphic novel written by Ashley Wood and T.P. Louise. The sci-fi actioner, with a script by Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott, tells of…

…a secret society of shepherds (they herd monsters) that has long held the line on the encroachment of mythological creatures and when the succession line is broken in modern days, a woman finds herself shouldering the responsibility to stop the creatures' return.

Green's sci-fi tale ECHO, the tale of teens receiving strange text messages from a new construction site, is set for release via Relativity next year.

LORE sounds quite similar to MEN IN BLACK and the more recently released R.I.P.D., but with Johnson onboard to star we've got high hopes that it'll be worthwhile. We'll keep you posted on news regarding this film as we hear it.
