Dwight Schrute spin-off, The Farm will not be seen on the small screen

Oct. 29, 2012by: Niki Stephens

How many fans of THE OFFICE are left out there? I may be one of the few who can still raise their hands. While the past few seasons haven't been quite stellar, I somehow find myself in front of the TV on a Thursday night to tune in.

For those who are still watching, how are you liking the eighth and final season? I'm actually kind of enjoying it, and it seems that they are trying to do as much as they can with the series before it ends. What happens after it does end?

There were plans to make a Dwight Schrute spin-off called, THE FARM. The series would follow Dwight's life on the beet farm with cousin, Mose and introduce us to more Schrute's like Majandra Delfino as the younger sister. Now even after recording a pilot for the show, it looks like THE FARM will never make it to the small screen, according to a Tweet from Rainn Wilson:

"NBC has passed on moving forward with The Farm TV show. Had a blast making the pilot - onwards & upwards!"

It's possible that we could still see the pilot, or an episode reflecting what could have been THE FARM during this season of THE OFFICE since it was originally planned that way. For those still watching, I guess we will find out if it ends up on the show sooner or later.

Meh.

I'm glad theres no farm show. I love the office, and I love comedy Thursdays don't get me wrong. But last season of the office was brutal, I thought it was so boring and nothing came of that season. I still watch the office every week and don't get me wrong, this season seems to be shaping up to be a good one. Last weeks episode sucked though . They're really becoming hit and miss with that show, same with the week before. Damn.

NBC is full of idiots!

NBC is losing Chuck, 30 Rock, The Office, Parks and Recreation, and potentially Community all in the same year. They've already lost some of their biggest shows, and now they've passed on The Farm and the fantastic Mockingbird Lane. They better pull their head out of their ass, because with everything else that's ending, Parenthood is the only thing on that network I will ever tune in for.

For the record, while nothing's been the same since Steve Carrell left, I've still been watching

For the record, while nothing's been the same since Steve Carrell left, I've still been watching every week, and still enjoy it. It's lost a bit of its magic, but I think it's still a better show than most of what gets picked up by Fox. After seeing Mockingbird Lane, I'm still hoping NBC see's the response it gets, and changes their mind... Or that someone else has the foresight to option it.

Well, Chuck ended. They didn't lose it, it was just concluded.

Parks and Recreation is still going. I have no idea where you got the idea it was being cancelled. And Chuck concluded almost a year ago.

This tired attempt at a spinoff not getting picked up is probably the best thing that could happen to Rainn Wilson. Carrell, Helms, Krasinski, Mindy Kaling, Rashida Jones have all gone on to bigger, better non-Office related projects. Rainn Wilson belongs in movies.

As for the show I confess I tuned out last season. They should have had Craig Robinson take over for Carrell (which is what they were hinting at for all of Season 6.) I know Helms is the bigger draw but the character Andy had
