Eddie Murphy joins Ben Stiller’s team in Tower Heist

Eddie Murphy has another job. He has been cast in Brett Ratner’s TOWER HEIST opposite Ben Stiller.

Oddly enough, when the project was developing back in 2005, Murphy was the lead with an all African American cast that included Chris Rock. This was when the film was called TRUMP HEIST. Suddenly that was dropped and the project just continued to flounder until it was revived this year.

Now it’s the story of, “an overworked residence manager (Stiller) of a posh highrise leads a team of the building’s operations and maintenance workers on an intricately choreographed heist of its penthouse tenant, a Wall Street capitalist (Alan Alda) who defrauded the rank-and-file staff of their pensions.” Murphy is taking on the role of a safe-cracking thug who might betray Stiller and his gang. He is also executive producing on the film as well.

Jeff Nathanson (CATCH ME IF YOU CAN) is rewriting the screenplay by Ted Griffin (OCEAN’S ELEVEN).

Anyone else ready for a hardcore Eddie Murphy comeback? Ditch the fat suits and flat comedies and bring back the old school Murphy.
