Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones worked wonders together in THEORY OF EVERYTHING, coming out the other end with Oscar nominations (Redmayne won his). Now the duo is back together again, and this time they’ll be in a hot air balloon together soaring to extraordinary heights in THE AERONAUTS, which you can see looks wonderful from the first image. However, they may realize they’ve made a terrible mistake when they discover there’s no bathroom up there.

The image is not much to go on, but the story of two people trying to fly higher than anyone ever has in a balloon sounds like a delightful concept that could result in some great work from the two stars. Amazon will be releasing the movie which is directed by Tom Harper (PEAKY BLINDERS), with the script coming from HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD scribe Jack Thorne.

Set in 1862, THE AERONAUTS follow wealthy young widow Amelia Wren (Felicity Jones) and ambitious scientist James Glaisher (Eddie Redmayne) as they mount a balloon expedition to fly higher than anyone in history. This is a journey to the very edge of existence, where the air is thin and the chances of survival are slim. As their perilous ascent reveals their true selves, this unlikely pair discover things about each other – and themselves – that help them find their place in the world they have left behind.
THE AERONAUTS doesn't have a release date, but perhaps we can expect it sometime in 2019.
