Eisner's Brood remake?

12.15.2009

When we told you earlier that Carl Rinsch was stepping in to replace Breck Eisner (SAHARA) on the remake of THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, one thing was overlooked: Where's Eisner going?

Turns out he's bouncing from one remake to another. Eisner is now attached to a sticky revamp of David Cronenberg's early monsterpiece THE BROOD.

The original 1979 terror treat starred Oliver Reed as a therapist whose innovative technique causes patients to purge negative emotions through gruesome body horrors and rage-beasts birthed by an angered mother.

The update comes from writer Cory Goodman, who also worked on the upcoming vampire-western PRIEST.

This would be the second remake of a horror-masters early work for Eisner -- his version of George Romero's THE CRAZIES arrives early next year.

Extra Tidbit: We can probably assume the previous BROOD's rubbery creatures will be replaced with more vicious CGI biters...

Yes the author of this article has seen the original. The monsterkids looked like snowsuit-wearing midgets with rubber putty on their faces. The movie itself might not "need" a remake, but updated creatures certainly won't hurt.

im so sick of remakes, and this one really bothers me as a huge cronenberg fan.
and i have to wonder if the author of this article has ever actually seen the brood because there werent any "rubbery creatures". aside from maybe an autopsy scene the creatures just look like little girls with messed up faces.
