Elijah Wood, Danny McBride and Will Ferrell to star in Beastie Boys film. Updated with pic!

The Beastie Boys have had some classic music videos throughout the years from “Sabotage” to “So What’cha Want” but I never thought one of their music videos would be adapted for the big screen. But now Beastie Boy turned movie producer Adam Yauch is mobilizing a short film based off their 1987 music video for “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party).”

Yauch will write and direct the film titled “Fight For Your Right Revisited” and will star Elijah Wood, Danny McBride, Will Ferrell, Jack Black and John C. Reilly as the party crashers (or as they say in the original video, “I hope no bad people show up.”)

UPDATE – We have the first pic from the short below which adds Seth Rogen to the cast and confirms we have Rogen as Mike D, Wood as Ad Rock and McBride as MCA.

It’s unclear if this is a video to promote Yauch’s indie distributor Oscilloscope or the upcoming Beastie Boys album “The Hot Sauce Committee, Part 2.”

The short film will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January and the synopsis posted on the festival’s official website describes the film thusly: “”After the boys leave the party … ” Whether any of the actors are intended to be cast as members of the Beasties is unclear but only Wood has any real passing resemblance.
