Elizabeth Banks is back to direct Pitch Perfect 3

The band is truly coming back together for PITCH PERFECT 3. With Universal all about trying to find success for a third time with their a capella comedy, Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow already on-board to see the next sequel through, it only made sense for Elizabeth Banks to make her way back to the director’s chair for the next leg.

And that’s what’s happening with Banks committing to helming the PITCH PERFECT sequel, a series she helped usher to the big screen, having produced the first film before hopping behind the camera for the follow-up.

Banks has been seeing her calendar fill up recently on the strength of her directorial debut with PITCH PERFECT 2, landing the reboot of CHARLIE’S ANGELS and RED QUEEN. However, with both projects still in various stages of development, PITCH PERFECT 3 was able to make the leap up the priority list with PITCH PERFECT 2’s screenwriter Kay Cannon already working on the script for the third go-’round and the studio pushing to make their announced release date in 2017.

PITCH PERFECT 3 is set to sing its way into theaters on August 4, 2017.
