Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Death is unavoidable, as is the grief that comes with it. We will all lose friends and loved ones over the course of all lives, which is why we seek out movies, TV shows, books and more that explore the nature of loss and dealing with grief. The upcoming show from Facebook Watch, SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS, is another entry in that canon and finds Leigh (Elizabeth Olsen) dealing with a tragic loss and learning how to move on and live her life, while at the same time discovering things about her late husband she never knew about. You can watch the first trailer for the new series above.

The show was written and created by Kit Steinkellner, and also stars STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI's Kelly Marie Tran, Jovan Adepo (JACK RYAN), Mamoudou Athie (THE GET DOWN), and Janet McTeer (JESSICA JONES). James Pondsoldt (THE SPECTACULAR NOW) executive produces (along with Olsen) and directed several episodes of the show, which will have it's debut at the Toronto International Film Festival next month before it premieres on Facebook Watch September 18.

Here's the plot synopsis:

“Sorry For Your Loss is a half hour drama on Facebook Watch that stars Elizabeth Olsen as Leigh Shaw, a young widow struggling to put her life back together in the wake of her husband’s unexpected death. The show is simultaneously devastating and uplifting, with grounded, flawed characters desperate to find humor anywhere they can. The series dives into grief as an unavoidable, universal, transformative part of life. Leigh’s journey will teach us that grief is not something merely to endure, medicate away or “muscle through,” but an essential part of the human experience.”
