Emilio directs again

10.01.2009

We haven't seen much of ex-Brat Packer Emilio Estevez since he spent so much time with the Mighty Ducks, but that's because he's been behind the camera.

After directing a number of TV series episodes and the acclaimed drama BOBBY, the bro-Sheen is underway on a new low-budget indie film called THE WAY.

The movies stars smoky-voiced actress Deborah Kara Unger (THE GAME, STANDER) and Brit actor James Nesbitt (MATCH POINT, BLOODY SUNDAY). Estevez also managed to coax screen veteran Martin Sheen on board.

The story features Sheen as a California eye doctor who goes to France to claim the body of his alienated son, and takes the cremated remains on a journey along the thousand-year-old Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in Spain.

Extra Tidbit: Estevez should be comfortable giving directions to his family members -- he's already directed dad, Charlie and/or himself in WISDOM, THE WAR AT HOME, RATED X and, of course, MEN AT WORK.

Who knew?

Ok...wow, grats to him. Men at work was silly as hell, and I havent' seen any of these others, but with his dad on board and Unger starring (SO hot in "the game"), i'm hip to this news.

Bobby was surprisingly really well made and ended up being one of my favorites of '06. I was wondering how he'd follow that one up. Sounds pretty promising.

Men at Work!!

Any Emilio news is good news as far as I'm concerned. Men at Work is a brilliant comedy and pray for a blu-ray release. p.s. It's Unger, not Under.
