Epic full trailer for Darren Aronofsky's Noah has crashed in!

Nov. 14, 2013by: Eric Walkuski

Enough with the teases, let's go full bore: Here's the official trailer for Darren Aronofsky's NOAH, starring Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson. This looks like a glorious epic, filled to the brim with beautiful visuals (and visual effects) and a powerful message of survival. Aronofsky has said all along that this will not resemble the tale of Noah most of us are familiar with, and it's quite apparent here that he wasn't kidding around. Watch:

We're still unsure if we'll ultimately see the director's full vision on the big screen, as he and the studio are reportedly squabbling over the final cut, but right now it's not too early to think this could end up being a thoroughly impressive achievement.

NOAH hits theaters on March 28, 2014.

Extra Tidbit: Are you sold on NOAH right now?

Meh. Lame Story, Unnessary CGI-Battle, No sign of Aronofskys visual signature. This looks like any other historic blockbuster ...

I like some of this...

Two things immediately struck me:
1) They made it an ARK, not a SHIP...a big-ass floating box for holding things. I like that.
2) The included the story of the people who would want onto the ark. That seems glossed over in the Bible, but to me that seems an important part of the tale...how do you leave behind millions of people, including hundreds of neighbors that you personally know?

I'm intrigued.

Yeah it's sad I've talked about this a few times, it's hard to tell the exact year but around 4-5 years we peeked CGI for big budget films, now sometimes it looks like they don't even try to improve. In all honesty the graphics for Perfect Storm were better than the graphics I just saw in that trailer.

THIS. IS. GOING.

TO BE SOOOOOO EPIC. I'm looking to a nice 3hr movie or close to it. And in IMAX none the less, the visuals and visual effects look amazing. I hope the studio doesn't fuck this up and ruin it chop it down. Because what I saw there was beautiful. Who cares if it isn't like the bible or w/e do you even know what happen ??? and it's a myth for crying out loud, it could be anyway you want to vision it.

I've been WOW'd by every Aronofsky film since Pi came out and I hope the trend continues. But I feel like it was such a 'studio' trailer that gave away a bit much.

Just an FYI

As somebody who has studied, but practices a religion outside of the 3 prophetic religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) - you guys might want to get over the idea that this is a "Christian" story. It figures prominently in all 3 traditions, and originated out of the Canaanites, who eventually became the Hebrew people. So, yeah, it's a per-historic fable - obviously not based in fact, and Christianity doesn't get to lay some exclusive claim on it.

Another interesting fact is that there's a flood story in most all major religions, some stories dating further then when the bible was written. Some historians do argue that they may have been a flood, like the one in Noah, that happened around 9000 years ago. I'm not a historian nor do I pretend to be, this is just shit I've read in books.

Eh.

It just looks remarkably eh. I mean, Aronofsky is a great director and I'm all for different interpretations of old tales, but I just hope this trailer (and the poster) are just marketing fuck ups. Also, do we REALLY need a LOTR-esque epic battle climax in a movie based off of Noah's Ark?

So you won't see this movie because it's based on a religious fable? Then I assume you had similar objections to Clash of the Titans, Beowulf, Immortals, and any Hercules movie?

Reading some pretty close minded comments. Really, you can't enjoy this partly because you know Christians will be lapping it up and believing what they see is fact? Get over it. Free yourself from that stick up your ass. 3000 years ago people would have believed in Greek mythology but does that make the stories any less awesome? No. It's fantasy.

It's a fable, so it's obviously fake, but it's one of the most basic, easy to understand stories ever put down to paper. If it doesn't make sense, don't blame the story.

Agreed dustyhead. The mere fact that so many people in the audience are going to believe that this fable is actually historic fact makes me not want to see it. That, and I can't stop thinking of this Joe Rogan stand up routine about Noah's Ark and an eight year old retarded kid.

This ISN'T Passion of the Christ...

I definitely hope people aren't expecting this to be Biblically accurate or anything like that. Heck, I'M a Christian and I know better than that. Unfortunately a vast majority of uninformed/ignorant people are going to go in expecting it to be a prequel to Passion of the Christ, and there will be huge controversy over the inevitable changes. And trust me, if the spoilers I've read about are true, there's a lot. I'm going into it with an open mind and an attitude that this movie is an epic

Let's see how that kind of mindset affects my reception to this movie.

Looks Amazing!

Aronofsky hasn't let me down yet and knowing this is a massive passion project of his makes me more excited. And for those uninterested in seeing it because it's taking the story from the bible, the story of a great flood is a tradition that runs through almost every major civilization of antiquity from mesopotamia to the Mayan's. Yes, its taking the story from the judeo-christian record but the story itself transcends one particular religion(s).

Looks pretty bad honestly, but Aronofsky is one of the most overrated directors working today, so I'm not surprised. The only thing that looked good is when the flood started.

looks good but those that do not believe in: religion/god/jesus (me) will possibly pass this up. I am sure it will be a good film like all of his but just like 'passion of the christ' it will only cater to those that believe. religious/god films are a tricky bunch. but regardless i hope those that see it enjoy their time :)

Agreed. It just because its a (loosely based) biblical movie dosent mean people who arent Christian wont see it. Why cant it just be a good movie? I'm Buddhist and I saw passion ot the christ just cuz it looked good ( was disappointed...). This one looks good too so I just might check it out too...

You can still enjoy the film while not believing the religious aspect of the story. I'm hyped for this film and I'm pretty much an atheist. Take it for what it is and not for what other people think it is. I'd say 99.9% of films that come out of hollywood are not based on a true story (even the ones that say they are), this is the same thing.

Passing on this

Which is a shame because I've loved everything Aronofsky has done thus far. The cinematography looks great and I'm sure he's worked long and hard on this. I feel like every religious fanatic and congregation will be going to see it because they think this story is fact, not because Aronofsky has made an entertaining film. Entertaining or not, I just can't get past that this is a Bible story transferred to film.

I can look past the fact the film is based on a bible story, even though I'm not a Christian, or even religious for that matter. Mythology films can be pretty cool, and I don't think this film will disappoint, despite how predictable it all is. Those saying they don't see Aronofsky's touch in this trailer must be willfully blind. If nothing else this movie will be beautiful and symbolic from start to finish.

And where is his touch exactly other than in the quick barrage of religious images we see near the beginning of the trailer? That's the only part of it that felt like Aronofsky at all. If I didn't know who was behind this movie I might think Roland Emmerich had something to do with this...

I agree with those who said the film looks a little too mainstream and CGI heavy. Aronofsky's signature style is nowhere to be found in this trailer. This looks like it could have been directed by any run of the mill big budget name. It's really kind of cheesy as well. Hopefully the film turns out to be great anyways.

Cautiously optomistic

It looks good and I will most likely pay to see it but I am still a little worried. I guess my caution comes because I know it's Aronofsky but the trailer does not feel that way. I guess it is just more for the fact that it is simply bigger than any thing he has done so far. It just worries that the studio has intervened way too much and it ends up being of flops on the scale of Waterworld and Heaven's Gate. When the fuck will studios learn?

Little Disappointed....

Still excited, but it's very run-of-the-mill epic, like I've seen it before. I was hoping Arronofsky would bring his own visual style to the story. Maybe it's just the way the trailer is cut (?)

There also appears to be too much CGI, and it doesn't look that good at the moment.

It's hard for me to like what I'm seeing

Me being an atheist aside, this doesn't seem like Aronofsky's style (looks too mainstream), and the inclusion of an all white cast for the biblical tale leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I really hope these trailers are misleading and the film will in fact be a success similar to how The Fountain trailers made the movie looked more streamlined than it actually was.

Let's see what the greatest filmmaker of our generation has in store for us...

He is better than this, still waiting for him to live up to his potential. I mean, this is the story of Noah, yet I feel like REQUIEM FOR A DREAM had more significance, emotion, weight, all of that. He seems to find the significance in the everyday experience easier than with stories of epic scope, more impersonal stories that are over ambitious in their concepts/.

Feels BIGGER than I earlier expected,... And I don't say that as a bad thing!

This has been a dream project for Aronofsky for some time,... So no, I don't think he 'Sold Out',...

Pretty sure this is his first time directing, producing, AND writing the film. I guess people might say he sold out because of the subject matter, but I don't see it that way at all . . .

Some have said that Aronofsky has "sold out" by making this film, but I don't think that's true. This trailer is an indication of the kind of work a director like him can do if vast resources are made available to them, and I think it will pay off. I can't quite place how, but this reminds me a little bit of Cloud Atlas.
