Ernie Hudson doesn’t think fans want an all-female Ghostbusters reboot

Yesterday we learned besides featuring an all-female Ghostbusters team, Paul Feig‘s GHOSTBUSTERS 3 (or whatever they end up calling it) will also be a complete reboot. Based on the amount of red on most of the comments for the story, it doesn’t seem like many of you are too happy about the plans for the project.

Bill Murray might be down with an all-female GHOSTBUSTERS (of course it’s hard to tell sometimes if Murray is joking or not), but there’s one former Ghostbuster who doesn’t believe fans are going to want to see the reboot: Ernie Hudson.

While speaking with Telegraph UK, Hudson said he doesn’t think it is a good idea, and isn’t sure why it’s even being called GHOSTBUSTERS if it’s going to be a reboot with a female team.

I heard it was going to be a total reboot, and that it would have nothing to do with the other two movies. If it has nothing to do with the other two movies, and it’s all female, then why are you calling it Ghostbusters? I love females. I hope that if they go that way at least they’ll be funny, and if they’re not funny at least hopefully it’ll be sexy. I love the idea of including women, I think that’s great. But all-female I think would be a bad idea. I don’t think the fans want to see that.

Ernie Hudson goes on to say he doesn’t believe there should be another GHOSTBUSTERS flick if it’s not going to have any of the original cast members.

Maybe it will come out and be the most amazing thing, but in my opinion I think it would be wrong to do another movie that didn’t include the guys. And that didn’t include me!

I agree having an all-female cast is a little much, and it also seems kind of gimmicky. It would be like doing an all-male version of SISTER ACT. Maybe not the greatest example, but you get my point. While I’m hopeful the new GHOSTBUSTERS will be fantastic, it’s been made very clear most fans are disappointed with the plans for the reboot.
