Evan Almighty Trailer

Mar. 30, 2007by: James Thoo
Moviefone have posted their exclusive new trailer for the upcoming movie EVAN ALMIGHTY, the sequel to BRUCE ALMIGHTY. You can click HERE to check it out. I don't know how much I'm into this, given I'm a Ricky Gervais purist and don't like the remaking of THE OFFICE, and therefore Steve Carell by default. But, he did surprise in the outstanding LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, so I guess there's always the chance he'll do it again.

The movie is about what happens when God appears to Evan Baxter - now a Congressman - requesting that he build an Ark, not unlike the one that Noah built. Along the way, Evan might just realise that instead of serving his country, he may in fact be serving the whole of humanity. Cue the cheesy inspirational music!
Extra Tidbit: BRUCE ALMIGHTY was officially banned in Egypt for "sacrilegious content".

i'm a big fan of carell, but i have no clue where the reported 200mil budget went for this film...they could have made 3 "300"s with that money!

Keep the Strike Back

Mr. Blo-

I agree. Personal insults should not be tolerated. I'm just always wary when the word "ban" is thrown about. It always sounds like censorship to me. But, like you said, it is a private site...and you can remove or restrict any language you deem innappropriate. But, I do agree...there's no sense in insulting someone personally.

I would vote not to remove the Strike Back feature, though. It's a great feature.

Sigh...

Didn't we just go through this last week? Okay folks, ONCE AGAIN, at least 1 person has been banned from our site for insulting our writers again. Did some of you NOT read this article: [link]

As for x1031x's statement: "I'm fine with writers on JoBlo tossing in their opinions, but readers have opinions too and if you're going to put a forum for people to speak directly following an article, they'll share those opinions."

Absolutely! That's what this section is all about....BUUUUUUUUT how

Absolutely! That's what this section is all about....BUUUUUUUUT how does INSULTING our writer fit into that scenario? Can you not disagree with someone without putting them down? Is that REALLY so much to ask? The last time I checked, everyone registered to our FREE SITE agreed NOT to be insulting to our writers or fellow members. 98% of our members LIKE THAT about our site, it sets us apart from all the "Dis movie rulZZZZZZZZZZ!!" sites out there, but if you all would prefer to insult our writers, please let me know and we just remove this section altogether and just stick to our NEWS WRITING.

"I don't see any reason why someone should be banned or have their membership revoked unless they use language that's purposely inflammatory for no reason. If I have trouble getting through an interview because the person who typed it can't spell, there shouldn't be any reason why I can't share that opinion. It's for the greater good people!"

Sure, but again, that is NOT what this section is for. You've all used EMAIL before, right? Just email the writer in question if there are TYPOS or something you want to speak to him about. AGAIN, this section is for REPLIES ON THE TOPIC of the article, NOT the typos, NOT for taking shots at our writers and certainly not for this type of thing right here.

It sucks that because of a few bad apples, this whole STRIKE BACK has to be reconsidered now. Would you guys really prefer we remove this section altogether?

This is a PRIVATE SITE, guys. We don't allow everyone on for a reason...and THIS is the very reason!! We expect RESPECT from our members, and if you don't like that, or can't handle that...please, I beg of you, visit another movie site from now on.

Thanks for understanding and for more on this, visit our GENERAL MOVIE TALK forum -->>

Getting tense here guys, calm down

I don't think anyone has any problems with the writers sharing their opinions, as yeah that's what this site has been founded on.

But, there has been a lot of articles lately that have seemed to focus much more on the random remarks then actual news, and an increase of rumours. I think that's what people are on about. But then again, the increase may have just been noticible due to the fact that a lot of us are whining about it down here. Though, I didn't really see much of that in this

Though, I didn't really see much of that in this article, it was fairly straight forward.

It's a shame though, I hear they tossed close to 200 million at this movie and it really doesn't look like they've got all that much for their money. I mean... everytime Carrell tries to shave the beard grows back? Why steal jokes from awful movies like the Santa Clause? I'm sure Carrell will bounce back but I don't see this really doing all that well. And Bruce Almighty wasn't even that good to begin with...

opinions go both ways

I'm fine with writers on JoBlo tossing in their opinions, but readers have opinions too and if you're going to put a forum for people to speak directly following an article, they'll share those opinions.

I don't see any reason why someone should be banned or have their membership revoked unless they use language that's purposely inflammatory for no reason. If I have trouble getting through an interview because the person who typed it can't spell, there shouldn't be any reason why I can't

Also...I love me some Steve Carell, but I really have no idea why this movie was made. Well, apart from the obvious $$$. But seriously, I can't imagine that the producers/writers of Bruce Almighty had that much left over on the cutting-room floor that just had to be committed to celluloid.

Opinions

Hi Gents, I seem to remember an article that Joblo wrote recently, reminding us that the purpose of this site is to share your opinions, not just news. [link]

Yeah even the cast of the original Office is in love with the new one. I think you should fall into peer pressure and conform. CONFORM!

and be happy they haven't decided to remake Extras yet.

Yeah, if you guys hadn't noticed, most news articles on this site usually have a line or two of the writer's own opinion worked in. I don't know why it's so upsetting to read a different opinion than your own. James Thoo didn't even use any strong words.

If you disagree, why not state your case in an equally civilized manner. If you don't care, stop reading.
