Everybody is already dead in first trailer for Syfy's 12 Monkeys TV series

I wasn't too happy when I heard Syfy was developing a new television series based on Terry Gilliam's 12 MONKEYS, however I have to admit it actually looks pretty solid. The first trailer for 12 Monkeys has been released, giving us a good look at the upcoming series. While there are a couple of things from the movie featured in the trailer, according to co-executive producer Terry Matalas the series will be a "complete reimagining."

Like the film, the series will follow time traveler Cole (Aaron Stanford) as he tries to prevent a deadly plague from wiping out most of the human race. 12 Monkeys also stars Amanda Schull (J. EDGAR, Pretty Little Liars), Kirk Acevedo (DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, INVINCIBLE) and Zeljko Ivanek (ARGO, IN BRUGES).

You ready to make history, or unmake it?

12 Monkeys will begin airing on Syfy in January 2015.

One season and gone...

Maybe two...
I'm not saying it will be bad, just saying it won't connect with enough viewers to make it profitable for SyFy.

This might just be the first time I've watched SyFy in years.

12 Monkeys is probably in my top 10-15 movies. But that doesn't mean it isn't ripe to be explored more. In fact, the time-paradox questions brought up in the movie are sorts of complex ideas that aren't seen enough in time-travel stories. I'm guessing no Jefrey Goines? I know if they do bring him in they need to tread lightly, so as to not wind up with someone overacting a Brad Pitt impression.

We've been seeing some great TV shows based on movies (Hannibal, Fargo, etc.), and this looks pretty interesting.

Just finished watching Fargo the other night. Such an excellent show. I thought it was better than the movie!
Actually Hannibal is better than the movie too.
