EXCL: Dakota talks Moon | Movie News

Our own JimmyO was out and about at the PUSH junket today and was able to talk to stars Dakota Fanning and Chris Evans about the sequels in their lives. First up and most pressing was the recently breaking news that Fanning was in talks to join NEW MOON, the soon-to-be-shooting sequel for TWILIGHT. Says JimmyO of her excitement when he asked the question, "You can tell that TWILIGHT is gonna happen. It was like talking to someone that had a really cool secret but couldn't tell anybody." So what exactly did she say when we broached the subject of NEW MOON? "It's definitely a possibility and I think it'd be really, really cool if that worked out to be the case. I'm a really huge fan of all that is Twilight so... And then she flashed her trademark Dakota pearly whites and that's all she could say on the matter.

Evans rose to fame in another movies about superheroes, FANTASTIC FOUR, and we asked him what the status of that franchise was. Says Evans, "I think they're done. They've closed the book on that franchise. I think if there was talk I think that I would've heard about it by now."

Finally each of them had to address the possibility that they could both return for a sequel to the film they're currently promoting. While it hasn't even hit theaters yet, Dakota gave another one of her secretive smiles and said, "You never know," to which Evans replied, "Well said."

So that's a yes on TWILIGHT 2, a no on FANTASTIC FOUR 3 and a definitely, maybe on PUSH 2. Stay tuned to JoBlo.com for more on PUSH as February 6th approaches!

Back to marvel studios?

What for? So far all they proved capable of was "rebooting" The Hulk hardly a couple of years after the Lee version, with no other improvement than a different cast. Not to mention dumbing down Tony Stark into a cynical, deadpan bumbler...



I say, leave the FF alone, and focus on the Surfer, or even characters who didn't get the big screen treatment yet.

With the exception of Alba, I never really had a problem with the FF cast. What really disappointed me was the weak characterization for Dr. Doom. There was just no threat of danger, which makes for a weak villian and a weak comic book movie. Not to mention that 4 (or 5) against 1 isn't that exciting to watch anyway. With a much better script I thought a third might work, but no big loss.

ff reboot

As much as I tried to like the FF films and as much as I love Jessica Alba I still think they should give this franchise a second chance and a whole new cast/director, heck! Chris Evans was the only cool thing to happen to these films, he basically carried the whole film(s) by himself, Silver Surfer was cool too but these films just didn't really work for me...I got an idea, FOX should give...

I really don't know what's all this fuss about Twilight. The movie is mediocre at it's best, not to mention it doesn't look like vampire movie at all.

Sequel? No. Other? Yes.

At this point, no one wants another Fantastic Four film. Those first two were absolutely wretched. I would watch the Roger Corman version any day of the week over those two steaming turds. I say steaming because they're still so fresh in our brains, which is why no one wants to see another sequel.



However, I think I speak for almost everyone when I say that we WOULD like a Silver...

However, I think I speak for almost everyone when I say that we WOULD like a Silver Surfer film. We don't want to see such a serious and interesting character treated like a bad Saturday morning cartoon show (as it was with both F4 films). If anything should be learned from Dark Knight (or the first two X-Men films, really), it's that we want the characters treated with the seriousness, depth, and dignity that they deserve.



So fuck the Fantastic Four, just give us our Surfer!



Oh, and fuck Twilight too.

I watched a kickass FF flick once

It was called "The Incredibles", and it was ten times better than any lousy live action version those hacks at Fox or Marvel Studios could ever dream greenlighting.
