I've said it before but it's worth saying again: "The Ruins" by Scott Smith is one of the most terrifying original books I've read in years. But don't take my word for it. Stephen King called it "simply the best suspense novel of the year" saying it will do "for vacations in Mexico what JAWS did for beach weekends on Long Island." OK before this turns into an infomercial, let's get to why we're here: THE RUINS movie.

It's a simple premise really: four American tourists and a friend head out to archaeological ruins in Mexico and well, things don't go very well. The movie hits theaters on April 4th and today Paramount is debuting both the poster and the new red-band trailer. We're proud to be able to bring you an exclusive look at the poster for the film, which as you can see hints at some doom for our turista friends (a second teaser poster for THE RUINS is available at Shock Till You Drop). After you gave upon the creepiness in the poster below, head over to the official RUINS website later today (approximately 3:00 EST) to check out the brand new red-band trailer and get really effed up (trailer online now!). At least now I have an excuse when my wife asks me to do weeding this spring. I'm not touching those vines!!

I've gotta say that after loving Scott B. Smith's novel, I'm looking forward to the movie in regards to the adaptation itself. But, it does kinda look like Hollywood went and grabbed the rights to an excellent novel and threw some C list talent in there and kind of made it look like a cop out horror film. Even some of the characters and situation in this film are rearranged from the book. I'll...

Go check out the novel, its terrifyingly worth it!

I was expecting more like the AVP:R red band trailer. That was pretty meh....

Just saw the Red-band trailer
and I gotta admit, it doesn't look very red-band at all. Granted, there's some blood but hell, there ain't no reason why this shouldn't be playing in theaters.



BTW, I like the cast, but the movie just looks awful.

I was JUST about to note the resemblance to 'The Evil Dead' poster. But nothing can beat out the original.

Forget how good the book was. This movie doesn't look like anything to get excited about. Even the poster looks typical of what I would find on a direct to dvd movie. I want what you guys are smoking.

i personally think this flick looks terrible! The trailer looked like absolute crap
