Exclusive 1:1 Interview with American Hustle star Amy Adams!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

In AMERICAN HUSTLE, Amy Adams plays Sydney Prosser, who along with boyfriend Irving Rosenfeld becomes entangled with an FBI sting to bring down a group of corrupt politicians and violent mobsters. The character, like Adams herself, is able to segue into "character" at any given moment; one minute she's Sydney, just trying to get by, the next she has adopted a British accent and bilked some poor sucker out of his dough. Sydney is no victim, but she's not a villain either, which makes her such an enticing character to focus on.

In the interview below, I chat with Amy about the complexity of Sydney, the risqué outfits she had to wear, the collaboration with director David O. Russell and how her British accent helped inform her character.

Oh, and if you're wondering about the "kiss" Amy talks about at one point, she's referring to a smooch given to her by Jennifer Lawrence in the film. Yeah, now you want to see it even more, don't you…
