I would add Miles Teller to that list. He was phenomenal.

Lego Movie was atrocious. Every kid in the sold out theater left saying how dumb it was. Nightcrawler (although Jake did good) was horrible. The movie is about a man taking pictures of crash and crime scenes... literally, THATS IT! Everyone is entitled to like what they want but I still cant figure out how that movie amused ANYONE. With that said, most of the films that are nominated are just as bad. Hopefully, 2015 brings at least a handful of somewhat decent films - unlike 2014 did.

SNUB

"Snub" makes it sound like a secret society. Oscars are a democratic vote.

hmmm..

I'm still baffled by the love shown here for The Babadook, it was one of the least scary and most annoying "horror" films I've ever seen.

I watched it amongst 8 friends and they all hated it. Not one said anything good about this film and they still give me a hard time about suggesting it.

And the ending.. my dear lord...! Talk about ridiculous...

I only just realized Ralph Fiennes didn't get nominated. Also, while I agree with Heisenberg, the one out of those that struck me as most out-of-place would be Tyler Bates, since most of the music we remember from that movie are old '70s hits.

Locke?

Sure, Tom Hardy plays stressful character well in the uneventful, overrated, and kind of stupid Locke but that performance, in my opinion, was not worthy of competing with the rest of the amazing actors nominated this year. Jake Gyllenhaal was easily the biggest snub. Nightcrawler also deserved a Best Pic nod and lets not forget of Rene Russo!!!

In no galaxy in the universe does Guardians of the galazy deserve these awards

This is pure 'fanwank' (I hate that term, but it's fitting here) on behalf of all the nerds out there who let a cool idea get in the way of actual film quality. Guardians of the galaxy was a 6/10 at best, no better than the majority of sci fi films released nowadays but it got popular because of the good retro soundtrack & Chris Pratt being very charismatic. Suggesting it should be up there for best picture and best director is an insult, and so very short sighted.

Other than that, I mostly

Other than that, I mostly agree with the choices, especially with Gyllenhaal. Lewis Bloom was a magnificent character and he played the part masterfully.

I would not change anything you said. You articulated so many of my thoughts. I think I would add that it seems like a lot of fans of GOTG were rooting for it to be great, and b/c it wasn't bad, they completely fell in love with it. They were going to either hate it, or think it was the best Sci-Fi movie ever.

Thumbs up alone just for you using the music from Under the Skin at the end of the video. .... But I agree with Interstellar making the list. Although I had my issues with the film, I totally agree with Best Picture and Best Cinematography.

I honestly think the film that was snubbed the most this year was easily Nightcrawler. And I also think Gyllenhaal gave the best all around performance this year as Lou Bloom. Much better then Carrell's so called overrated performance.

Sometimes you say some questionable things, and then you drop some bombs that you know what you are talking about. After I saw Nightcrawler, I was hoping he'd take on the Joker.

Gyllenhaal would make for a great Joker or even Batman. Carell had better not win. The academy already destroyed any respect I had by not recignizing Interstellar, If they give it to him...
