Exclusive: Oscar "Best Picture" Retrospective - 1990

08.04.2015

In this new series we take a look at the Oscar nominations of years past, examining the flicks that were nominated, as well as the pic we feel got snubbed among all the other candidates. Love 'em or hate 'em, the Oscars usually highlight the best films from each year (although there are plenty that get overlooked) and it's always fun to look back and see what was popular for any given year and to contemplate their legacy in retrospect. This time out we take a look at the 1990 Oscar nominees, which include some really outstanding titles, including another Daniel Day-Lewis powerhouse performance, an endearing Morgan Freeman/Jessica Tandy drama, a moving (anti)war film with one of Tom Cruise's best performances, a classic Kevin Costner sports fantasy flick, and one of my all-time favorite films starring the late, great Robin Williams. Check out the retrospective below and let us know your favorites!
