Early summer looks good, but mid to late summer looks empty! Is the summer movie season shifting along with the global climates????

I was expecting more this summer. I would agree that X-Men: Days of Future Past is probably number one. Hell, even Godzilla looks spectacular! However, all the good looking films are pretty much released in May and early June, after that it's practically barebones!
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 wasn't even released in the summer. Is the summer movie season shifting from Memorial Day to end of August, to now May 1st to August 1st?

All the films I was eager to see are early summer, after that it's yet another loud Michael Bay disaster. And Guardians of The Galaxy? More like I'm tired of all the back-to-back Marvel films!
Transformers would look cool if it wasn't for the awful trilogy prior to this fourth installment.
Can we just skipped ahead to the 2014 Christmas movie season?

Anything having to do with Michael Bay this summer is nowhere near on my list. With Transformers having outlived it's welcome after 3 decent to terrible movies, I'm done. And there is nothing about the new Turtles movie that has me excited. Otherwise, it's a great list. Godzilla is number one on my list though, followed by Guardians. I am cautious about X-men, because I honestly don't know if we're getting the Singer who did X3 or the Singer who did X2.

I'm a little confused.....

....about the point of the rankings. Obviously HTTYD 2 is expected to out-earn all but a couple of these films. I'd agree with the top four, but some of the high entries (like Lucy, which doesn't look like more than #15 on a list like this) that are out of line with what the public is expecting, and what should make the biggest impact at the box office. I really want to see Chef as well, but an Indy R rated comedy about a dad cooking out of a truck? That's probably the least known film on

That said, IMDB is announcing Johansson as the star of "Black Widow" coming out. Did I miss the story about Marvel announcing her solo project, or did someone drop the ball?

Oh yeah, and my list (in order) is Godzilla, Guardians Of The Galaxy, HTTYD 2, and Days Of Future Past.

I would almost sell Lucy short too, except that it's Luc Besson and he is actually directing the movie. So, that hopefully means it will be a solid action flick.

Bring on the thumbs down, but I wish they'd saved Spider-man until the end of summer as a finale. I feel like after that I can't look forward to anything else this year I liked it so much.

This makes me smile. I only see hate everywhere else. I actually enjoyed it more than Cap 2. And I thought Cap 2 was awesome. But Spidey 2 was a pure emotional rollercoaster and I LOVED it.

I completely agree. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 would've been quite the bang for an end to the 2014 summer movie season.

X-Men, Guardians Of The Galaxy and Transformers 4. I might see Godzilla, but my expectations are low on that one...

X-Men: Days of Future Past, Godzilla, Guardians of the Galaxy, Edge of Tomorrow, and Filth can't get here soon enough.
