Exclusive: What the Joker will actually look like and upcoming film spoilers

04.28.2015

David Ayer released the first promotional photo of Jared Leto's Joker last Friday in celebration of the character's 75th anniversary. Sporting self-aware tattoos and a grill that seemed anything but funny, the image induced shock, awe and a load of new comedic memes. We've now had the weekend to digest Warner Bros. new vision of the Clown Prince of Crime, but for those of you having trouble accepting this new look, you may not have to.

Here's the rundown on The Joker's final look:

According to our source, the Joker image everybody is talking about isn't a genuine image and doesn't match up with how he looks on set. He's missing scars (which we reported on a while back as mementos from his history with Batman) and the grill/teeth are a kind of WTF addition to the image. Our source elaborates that he's scarred on his back and arms and his skin is definitely whiter than what we see below. The tattoos are brand new if even real, and may have been added to cover up the areas where his scars will be.

The picture that has everyone up in arms:

Furthermore, your first look Leto's Joker on film may be sooner than you think. Ben Affleck has lately been spotted in Toronto, coincidentally where the filming of SUICIDE SQUAD is taking place. That's led many to believe that Bruce Wayne may be making a cameo in SUICIDE SQUAD, but the following rumor is a little more unexpected. It doesn't come from a source of our own, but Latino Review is reporting that the Joker will show up briefly in a flashback sequence during BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, where we'll witness Joker beating and killing Jason Todd (aka Robin). DAWN OF JUSTICE is setting up a much different and darker world for Bruce Wayne than we're used to, and while we've reported on some of those changes, this would obviously give Affleck's Batman even more issues of responsibility than he's used to having, possibly prompting him to make sure this Superman figure won't act out of line.

We'll of course keep you up to date on anything that's confirmed, but it looks like non-fans of the infamous Joker pic can rest easy for now. In the meantime, Jared Leto has updated his Instagram with a picture of his SUICIDE SQUAD physique, showing off a symbol we generally don't associate with the character.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE hits on March 25, 2016 while we can expect SUICIDE SQUAD to be released on August 5, 2016.

So he's going to look like Marilyn Manson but with scars? I'm going to continue keeping an open mind.

I really, really want to believe it's true. But the studio silence states otherwise.

Phew! The main issue with the tattoos for me is that they're something a Joker wannabe, like the Jokerz gang members from Batman Beyond, would have. I guess it's like those pictures of Robert Downey Jr posing with an Iron Man action figure, which are not supposed to indicate Tony Stark will be carrying around a toy of himself in the movie (though he would). Still, bad move unveiling the character that way, it's not a stretch at all for us to jump to that conclusion.

Okay....

I'm not sure if I want this to be true or not, because I spent the last few days rationalizing the photo and I thought I had made sense of it, haha.

So, if RUMORS are true, Batman is a vigilante who no one but the Joker has really encountered. Superman is the first Super powered being this universe has ever really seen. That seems to imply that the villains Batman has faced, up to now, have been common criminals, with some weird personal traits (ala the facially scarred Killer Croc). Maybe

Maybe they leave their card, or they have a signature way of fucking people up, but none of them are the Killer Crocs or the Riddler or even the JOKER as we think of them, because otherwise the world wouldn't have been so surprised about a superhero. So, in this interpretation, I can imagine a Joker who has been in and out of prison, who is vicious but avoids death row, but avoids the death penalty because he has information on this "cruel" batman. A man who is just crazy, but avoids prison....might have tattoos. I don't know. Just speculation.

Good thing because that picture of him with those ridiculous tattoos looked like he would be licking Batman's boot heel for painkillers versus being an actual threat to the caped crusader.

I like the metal teeth too!

The tattoos are kinda stupid especially "damaged" on the forehead, but I actually like the teeth, they make him look creepy as fuck! I also really like the idea that batman punched out his originals and they were replaced with those ones.

Thanks for pointing out how close the two movies will be to each other. One fades, and the next is upon us.
Interesting tactic.

I liked the teeth caps

as someone else mentioned, Joker could have lost several of his teeth while getting pummeled by Batman, and they were replaced by student dentists.

My only beef with the tattoos were that they were too referential and too clean: prison tattoos would have made sense but those looked too good.

Either way, I have a feeling Jared Leto will deliver a Joker that matches Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson. Let the fanboy hate commence!

Stupid fanboys always gotta fuck things up for everyone, I didn't mind the look of the Joker, even if it wasn't the actual one used in the upcoming movies. Would be cool though if he shows up in BVS, interesting pic though by Leto

Glad to read that the photo we saw of Leto won't actually be the appearance we will be seeing him in the film. I understand that DC and Leto have to differentiate themselves from Nicholson, and Ledger, but nothing about the appearance reminded me of the Joker we all know and love.

Leto is too great of a casting choice to be dumb downed by stupid tattoos and metal in his mouth and/or like he walked out of a Hot Topic.

Keep the tats. Who gives a shit about a fictional character having ink. It's a comic book movie, Not a biopic on Malcolm x.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Laughing like the Joker and his tattoos. I wish fans had that kind of sway then Feig and his feminine Ghostbusters would be told to fuck off.

Potentially good news....

The tattoos would make sense in that case. It wasn't necessarily what he will look like, it's supposed to by a hyperbolic statement of "Look at me....I'll be the Joker!" thing for advertising. Hopefully that's the case....Ledger was brilliant, but even he didn't nail all aspects of the character. That picture of Leto nails practically none of the aspects.

If that information is accurate I'm cool with it. I got the sense that wasn't his final iteration and I understand their conflict in wanting to give us teases, but not wanting to let any cats out of the bag. I just hope they saw a generally negative/mixed reaction to those tats and heard us loud and clear that we will not be fans of that aesthetic on our beloved Clown Prince.

There is a HUGE difference between a fan & a fanboy. Fanboys overreact over any little thing & makes silly threats & boycotts & stupid ass petitions .a fan shows support no matter what.

By your definition I'm not sureI respect either group of people. By your definition of both fan and fan boy, I want to not be associated with either. Because if I am a fanboy, then I have no life and do all those threats. The kind of person who goes on IMDb boards and starts a thread titled "OFFICIAL REACTION THREAD FOR AGE OF ULTRON....SERIOUSLY IF YOU'RE NOT POSTING HERE ABOUT IT IT DOESN'T COUNT" and then your version of a fan is....Well, it works for sports. But movies are either good or
