Expendables Twitters

Apr. 6, 2009by: Dave Davis

I don't know if Twitter is the new ICQ, the new MySpace or the new Facebook, but it certainly is the favored communication method of the moment.

Sylvester Stallone is currently in progress on his action spectacular THE EXPENDABLES, and the production is planning to keep online followers (Twits?) updated every step of the way.

So far the Twitter updates are light -- Jason Statham is ripped, the first shot of the movie was a big stunt, attire in Rio consists of Chuck Taylors and unsightly swimwear -- but there's surely more to come as Sly and his merry band of merciless mercenaries really star dealing out some damage. Make sure you get all the details yourself RIGHT HERE.

And don't forget to follow JoBlo on Twitter RIGHT HERE!

Extra Tidbit: Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell both used "ghost director" George P. Cosmatos on movies they secretly directed themselves (RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II and TOMBSTONE).

Colbert

If you missed the episode of The Colbert Report from last week where Stephen interviewed the "creator" of twitter you need to go to colbertnation.com and check it out. Too funny, Colbert ripped this guy apart and loved every minute of it.

What the hell is Twitter? How is it any different from Myspace, Facebook, and livejournal? I keep hearing that Twitter is the coolest thing, but I fail to see how it's any cooler than the 9 year old technology that is Myspace (and Myspace isn't that cool)?

On a separate note, I think the Expendables will be awesome.

A movie like "The Expendables" is way too manly for this girly shit. I was in the Facebook scene for some time, but then I just got sick of it. They're just havens for attention whores to inflate their self-worth. "Oh, lookit me getting drunk!" "HAI GAIZ! Lookit me eating a ham sandwich! I'm so awesome!". But enough ranting from this "old fossil".

off topic but

goddammit I hate Twitter. It's like 4 years old anyways, why is it just now getting so big?

I'm very careful not to get sucked into all these new technological advances. Maybe I'm just old school, but I prefer to get outside as much as I can and converse with folks in person rather than let a gadget do it for me.

That said, I do think it's pretty damn cool that Sly makes a habit of communicating with his fans, giving updates from the set and all that jazz. Sly, if you read this, you're the man. Keep on rockin'!

I can't wait to see some photos for this flick and, even though

Twitter is the beginning of what you see in Idiocracy and Wall-E. The future is bleak.
