An extended tv spot for director Robert Zemeckis' FLIGHT, starring Denzel Washington, John Goodman, Don Cheadle, Bruce Greenwood, James Badge Dale, and Melissa Leo is now online, showcasing more of the drama, intrigue, and mystery of the mile-high pic. It's been a long time since Zemeckis has gotten behind the camera for a live-action film and FLIGHT is definitely an interesting choice. With so much going on in the trailers it's hard to decipher just what exactly the film is about, which is actually kind of cool, in my opinion.

Fasten your seatbelt:

I'm onboard for this, pun intended. Zemeckis has given us some of the best film's ever produced, from the BACK TO THE FUTURE trilogy to FOREST GUMP to WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT? and Denzel is always a safe bet. I love the intrigue of the trailers, which leave me with the lingering mystery of what really happened on the plane. I doubt we'll see Doc Brown or Forest Gump have anything to do with it, but Zemeckis is no stranger to mysterious reveals. I look forward to experiencing it for myself.

Here's the synopsis:

In this action-packed mystery thriller, Academy Award winner Denzel Washington stars as Whip Whitaker, a seasoned airline pilot who miraculously crash-lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe, saving nearly every soul on board. After the crash, Whip is hailed as a hero, but as more is learned, more questions than answers arise as to who or what was really at fault, and what really happened on that plane?

FLIGHT takes, er, flight on November 2, 2012.

The only way this could be better is if Deltalina (aka Katherine Lee) makes an appearance...

Great to have you back in the land of the living, Mr Zemeckis. Flight looks really good, and re the extra tidbit, my favourite live-action Robert Zemeckis film has got to be the classic 'Forrest Gump'.

This looks like a bit of a throwback to mid-'90s Denzel Washington, when he was just a dramatic actor, and not the badass he became with Training Day and Man on Fire. Few actors can play complexity the way Denzel can, so it's nice to see him back in a movie where he can really flex those muscles. Which reminds me what I've missed about Robert Zemeckis the live-action director. Like Cast Away, this ought to be a good character study about a career man in crisis, and Zemeckis knows that territory

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? is probably my favorite of Zemeckis'. It made Bob Hoskins into kind of a cinematic father figure in my early years, but what really has always stood out for me is Judge Doom, who gave 2-year-old me a lot of nightmares when I saw it in theaters, and is still iconic as one of the scariest villains in movies. Still can't believe that was Christopher Lloyd!
