Ezra Miller Justice League Flashpoint

In Flashpoint, A DC Comics event-series published in 2011, Barry Allen awakens in an altered DC universe to find that he's the only one aware of some fairly significant differences between the regular timeline and this altered one. Warner Bros.' upcoming Flash-centric film FLASHPOINT is said to be based upon that series, and Ezra Miller gave an update on the film while speaking with Entertainment Weekly, which may tear the DC universe apart.

What fans understand when they hear Flashpoint would be almost like hearing a word like ‘Crisis.’ We start to understand that our precious DC universe will inevitably be torn asunder to an endless, headache-inducing fabric of multiversality. The DC Hyper-Extended Multiverse, as I plan to call it. Quote me!

As for where they're at in the process of bringing FLASHPOINT to life, Ezra Miller admits that he hasn't seen a script yet. "The development of the project has been a little Barry Allen-like in its mercurial tendencies," Miller said. "But it looks more promising and more exciting than any of the other stages of development that we’ve been in." Geoff Johns, who wrote the original Flashpoint mini-series and now serves as co-chairman of DC Films, says that the live-action film will explore new ground. "There’s elements in it that we’re going to be playing into that we couldn’t do anywhere else," Johns said. "The scale of it, the Batman story of it all." What's that about Batman? Well, in the original Flashpoint mini-series, one of the many changes to the universe is the reveal that Thomas Wayne, not Bruce Wayne, is the Batman, as it was Bruce who was killed by the gunman all those years ago. It's not known whether the FLASHPOINT film will give us the Thomas Wayne incarnation of Batman, but Ezra Miller has previously said that he hopes Jeffrey Dean Morgan will reprise the role he played very briefly in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. The universe-altering plot may even give Ben Affleck the "graceful and cool way to segue out of" playing Batman that he desires.

With JUSTICE LEAGUE now set to open in theaters, Ezra Miller told the Toronto Sun that he already has an idea of where he'd like the sequel to go and who he'd like the League to face off against next.

“The Injustice League,” he says pausing for effect. “I think I can speak for everyone in the League when I say that we’re extremely excited of the prospect of continuing this journey. We don’t really know for sure, and we’re usually the last people to find out, but… each of the heroes in this movie have specific nemeses and villains, and I think seeing some sort of Injustice League [which featured the Joker, Lex Luthor and many more], like in the comics, would bring some of the heaviest villains together and would be something that DC fans would be pretty stoked about."
