Fear the Walking Dead premiere, The Walking Dead finale to air back-to-back

AMC is consistent with the schedule for The Walking Dead. New seasons start airing in October, have a midseason finale around the end of November or early December, then return for the second half of the season in February. That pattern is holding true for the current season, season 8, with the second half of the season set to begin airing on February 25.

The schedule for The Walking Dead's companion series Fear the Walking Dead is all over the place, though. The first season began airing on August 23, 2015. The second made its premiere on April 10, 2016. The third season started on June 4, 2017. The only thing we can be sure of is that its seasons will end in early October, just in time for The Walking Dead to start up again.

AMC has announced the premiere date for Fear the Walking Dead's fourth season, and this one has a date close to season 2's.

Fear the Walking Dead season 4 will begin airing on AMC at 10pm on Sunday, April 15th. The next week, Fear will be back in its usual 9pm time slot, where it will remain for the following weeks.

The premiere begins an hour later than usual because it will be airing back-to-back with The Walking Dead's season 8 finale. Presumably, the finale and premiere are on the same night due to the crossover aspect of Fear the Walking Dead season 4 – The Walking Dead character Morgan Jones (Lennie James) is going to have a role in Fear this season.

In season four of Fear the Walking Dead, we will see the world of Madison Clark and her family through new eyes — the eyes of Morgan Jones, joining the story from the world of The Walking Dead. The characters’ immediate past mixes with an uncertain present of struggle and discovery as they meet new friends, foes and threats. They fight for each other, against each other and against a legion of the dead to somehow build an existence against the crushing pressure of lives coming apart.  There will be darkness and light; terror and grace; the heroic, mercenary, and craven, all crashing together towards a new reality for Fear the Walking Dead.

April 15 is going to be quite a night for Walking Dead fans.

James and fellow newcomers Maggie Grace, Garret Dillahunt, Jenna Elfman, and Kevin Zegers join Fear's returning cast members Kim Dickens, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Frank Dillane, Colman Domingo, Ruben Blades, Ray McKinnon, and Danay Garcia, who confirmed her return on Instagram yesterday.
