We got a glimpse of him last year, but AMC has released the first full look at Ian Colletti as Eugene "Arseface" Root from its Preacher series, and hopefully this means that a new trailer is on the horizon. Root's mangled up face is a result of a failed suicide attempt, and although he doesn't look as gruesome as he does in the comics, I'm pretty happy with how he will appear in the upcoming television series.

Well, there goes my appetite:

Preacher Ian Colletti Still

The small screen adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's critically-acclaimed comic book series comes from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and Rogen explained how they made Arseface's face look so arse-y during a Q&A at SXSW following the premiere of the pilot episode.

We could never afford that in CGI – it’s a prosthetic rig. That poor little f—er has to wear that s–t on his face. He has a positive attitude about it, but I know it f—ing sucks. He can emote a lot even with the thing on his face.

Preacher will debut on AMC on May 22, 2016.

fingers crossed

Preacher is hands down one of the best stories ever put to the comic medium, and I remain optimistic for this 'interpretation' especially based on the positive reactions coming out of SXSW. However, I am still feeling pretty worried as every little piece that comes out seems to stray farther and farther from the comics - whether it be story/timeline deviations or character change. My biggest reservation is that this should have been held off until the stars aligned for it to debut on HBO or

My biggest reservation is that this should have been held off until the stars aligned for it to debut on HBO or somewhere that allowed it to be the grotesque and wonderful monster it deserves to be. Expectations and hopes remain high!

Ehhhh....looks okay. Kevin Smith and his crew did a far better prosthetic creation but oh well.
