The idea of Steve Carell and Tina Fey starring in a movie together was once a novel idea. At the time Carell and Fey were starring in two of my favorite sitcoms on TV and the idea of pairing them together for a movie seemed like a no-brainer. The only problem was that the movie turned out to be DATE NIGHT. Sure the movie doesn't hit theaters until April but I'm not exactly approaching the film with a lot of optimism. But if at first you don't succeed, try, try again, right?

Carell and Fey are in early talks to reteam for the Warner Bros. comedy MAIL-ORDER GROOM, which would star Fey as a single woman who orders a husband (Carell) from an Eastern European mail-order service. Giving us a little bit of hope with this film is the talent WB is hoping to put behind the camera. They've already brought in Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (BAD SANTA) to do a rewrite and are looking at Jay Roach (MEET THE PARENTS) or Richard Linklater (DAZED AND CONFUSED) to direct.

I don't doubt that Carell and Fey have a great movie in them - separately they've made great movies - but I'm pretty sure DATE NIGHT isn't it. Here's hoping the second time is a charm.

Extra Tidbit
I kinda agree. I think it started tanking a little bit when Jim became a boss and couldn't do shenanigans anymore.

What?!?!
How did Mike Sampson get this job?! How can you say Date Night didn't succeed when it hasn't even come out yet? The Date Night trailer looks pretty good for what it is(a date movie)but Mr. Sampson is sure it isn't as good as their next film which he knows little to nothing about! WHAT?

I love both of these actors, and I was terribly disappointed with the first trailer for Date Night. Hopefully that movie will surprise me, and this next one will be fantastic. Steve needs another good movie... it's been a while.

Yo!?!!?!
Uh, Date Night doesn't come out for 5 months how do you know it's going to suck? The trailer didn't wow you? BFD. I read the script to Date Night and was pleasantly surprised at how funny and brisk it was on the page. If you're married especially, you're gonna relate and like it trust me. And the Office hasn't lost it's steam it gets funnier. For a network show it is definitely good (Although...

They've said a few times on JoBlo that it's definitely an opinion-based website. If you want your news without a spin, find a different site. There's tons of them.

okmoviefan- he didnt say it WAS a rule he said it SHOULD be reserved for facts about the subject, which i 100% agree with. if this were his personal blog that would be one thing but writing about your own opinions in a news article is just poor journalism. thats my 2 cents anyway.

I think you're right. Mike clearly violated the Rule, in which states "Extra Tidbits should be reserved for facts about that subject, and not your personal Opinion"

I would also like to add where you can find this rule. But I am unable to do so. I will just refer all to NoirMan's comments above.

I'm gonna have to agree with you, Mike. The Office is just kind of annoying now. Used to be my favorite show, now has been replaced by the superior 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation (which is WAY better this season than it was last season)

brechtsky...I was at the party on time and it was lame.

I watched all the episodes last season and didn’t really find them all that funny.

I kept watching mainly because there was nothing else on and I was too lazy to find alternate means in which to amuse myself.

This season I have laughed my ass off. Has nothing to do with it being Chic.

I believe that you , like everyone else, actually should be saying, its way more popular and chic now ...

P&R was just as good last season... Its just popular now, and instead of people admitting they were late to the party or wrong about it, they just want to say the party sucked before they got there.

Although I will admit addition of Louis Ck made a big difference-- His acting has blown me away, he should be nominated for an emmy.
