Final trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness features space battles, Klingons, and lots of jumping

The final trailer for J.J. Abrams‘ STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS has arrived and features a good amount of new footage tied in with what we’ve already seen before. There seemed to be a lack of “space action” in the earlier trailers, but this new one promises that we will have some laser-on-laser fights after all, one of which looks to be with an Enterprise-like ship on steroids. We also have a gllimpse of the Klingons, which are rumored to have a lot of involvement in the plot and quite a bit of jumping, almost to superhero level theatrics. It’s a mostly Kirk-centric trailer, focusing on Captain Kirk’s (Chris Pine) resolve. We really don’t even need this trailer, as cool as it is. I mean, is there anyone not going to see this?

Believe in Kirk:

Here’s the synopsis:

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.  As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Alice Eve, Peter Weller, Noel Clarke, and Benedict Cumberbatch opens in 3D and IMAX on May 17, 2013.
