PUNISHER: WAR ZONE

Frank Castle aka The Punisher is re-incarnated today in the form of Ray Stevenson in PUNISHER: WAR ZONE but if you're still undecided about whether or not to see the flick, maybe this final poster will do something to help you decide. In this one, Castle turns his vigilante rage to master criminal Jigsaw and his ragtag band of cronies.

@ WalterKovacs

No offense taken. And I understand and accept your point of view as well. In retrospect, I probably should have taken that into consideration before I posted.

I understand your appreciation and demand for good filmmaking as well. I'm not saying I don't appreciate and ask for good filmmaking, because I do. But I don't mind watching what I guess some would call a "bad movie" every once and a while. I guess what I'm trying to say is sometimes I don't look for something spectacular, I

Maybe I'll dig the new PUNISHER. Maybe I won't and will walk out as well. You never know until you try though, right?

Awesome.

I don't know what you saw, Walter, but the Punisher movie I saw was awesome. Yeah, it had some cornball dialogue in it, but what do you expect? It's a comic book movie!

I saw it Saturday night, with maybe a dozen other people, who all had a great time. The violence was great, the performances of the leads was excellent, and the cinematography was top notch. It wasn't a masterpiece by any means, but I had a hell of a fun time watching heads explode. What more can I ask for from a Punisher

Point well made Indiana. Generally though, when a movie is that bad within the first 30-45 in IMO it's all downhill from there.

I suppose if you look at it strictly on the comic book references part and not as good filmmaking then you'll dig it, but I guess I ask more from my flicks is all. No offense.

I was skeptical of the movie but my friend who saw it (who happens to be a HUGE comic book fan) said it was good and closer to the material than the Tom Jane Punisher, so I'm definitely going to check it out now because my buddy knows what he's talking about when it comes to comic book flicks. He also said that Tom Jane is the Michael Keaton of Punishers and Ray Stevenson is the Christian Bale. So there's that, too.

By the way, @ WalterKovacs, I don't think anyone should take your criticism very seriously considering you didn't even see the whole movie. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think judging the whole film based on what little you saw can warrant any justifiable criticism. That's just my opinion, though.

I saw it today and it was fucking awsome!I liked the Punisher with Thomas Jane in it,but this one just kills it.I wasn't sure if Ray Stevenson could be the punisher, but he proved me wrong.

I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but "Punisher: War Zone" is fucking awesome. Sure, it's ridiculously over the top, and nowhere near as good as the comics, but simply taken as an action film ... well, they just don't make 'em like this anymore. Think "Rambo" meets "Commando," but on acid. Good stuff.

Absolute Crap

I came, I saw, and it fucking sucked. I left about thirty minutes in. It's ridiculous that they can't seem to make a decent feature out of this character. The subject matter may be irrelevant in today's action world but it's still a cool character.

Ray Stevenson looked the part and the violence was really over the top in a holy shit funny kind of way but everything else was a joke.

I smelled the shit on this one from last summer but for some reason I still went to the theater to see it,

Surprisingly a fun movie!

I'll be honest. This is a very fun, stupid-as-hell movie. Think of Punisher: War Zone as a Grindhouse film and you'll have so much fun.

Ray Stevenson is better than poor Tom Jane. No offense to Thomas!

It's Pretty Good

You know what? the movie aint bad. The Lundgren version was decent at best, and the Tom Jane Punisher was a disaster. Anyone else notice how mid-way through the movie they decided to go for the R Rating. When his whole family is gunned down at the beginning, there is not even a drop of blood anywhere. Then out of nowhere by the end, he's jamming knives straight through guys chins.

This version I would say, is the most loyal to the character, in the Marvel knights world. The gansters even talked like hardcore gavones, the way Garth Ennis would write. And like those books, The Punisher doesnt leave a man standing.

Could it have been better? Sure. But was it a good movie? Yes. Stop hating.

I'm usually a sucker to see ANY Marvel comic book movie considering I enjoy all of their characters, but not this one. I stand by the '04 version, this one just looks dumb.

I'm a fan of the Dolph Lundgren original (which you can't even get on DVD here in the UK, so I have it on R1 import), and I also have the comic adaptation of that movie.
This new one might be dumb, but I have to say I really like this poster. At least they've got that right.

Ray Stevenson looks funny. I haven't seen the movie, and likely never will...but I will say that he sure does look funny.

I had fun and I'm a big Punisher fan.

I loved it. Fuck Thomas Jane or Tom Jane what ever he's going by today. For a low budget film because (Hey no one give's Frank a chance) I loved it!

I Saw it this afternoon

Loved it! It was by no means a great film, but it was very entertaing and the crowd seemed to enjoy it. Much better than that PG-13 fluff from 04 and the one with Dolph. It is not Dark Knight or Iron Man quality wise, but it is balls to the wall action and gore. And Ray Stevenson is on hell of a Bad Ass.

I don't Get It...

The Punisher should be the easiest suphero in the world to pull offf... there's an intriguing but simple backstory requiring very little exposition, perfect excuses for tons of action (yet without any real need for complex visual effects) and a ton of leeway in how serious or comic bookish you want to make it. He should be a cinch! I mean if you can do Batman this well why the heck can't we get a decent Punisher flick? He's the same archetype only even more grounded in reality.

Take the first "Death Wish" film slap Bronson into a Skull shirt and you have a near-perfect Punisher film. It's not that hard. They did it 30 years ago so why can't they do it today?
