Firebase feature film has been canceled

A few weeks back director Neill Blomkamp announced that Oats Studios was looking to crowd-fund a feature version of the amazing short film FIREBASE. A campaign was set up and donations began flooding in… but it looks like it all wasn't enough.

Yes, Oats Studios has officially pulled the plug on their planned FIREBASE feature film, taking to Twitter to break the bad news writing:

To all backers of Firebase. Oats will be refunding everyone who contributed completely. Unfortunately, we didn't raise enough to do something truly awesome. We would rather over deliver than create an average film. We thank the thousands of people who did back us- hang in there.

You can check out the tweet yourself below and then make sure to hit us up and let us know if you're upset that the FIREBASE feature isn't happening anymore in the comments below or on social media!

The short follows a group of American soldiers through a one-of-a-kind, bat sh*t crazy version of Vietnam that has to be seen to be believed! It stars Steve Boyle, Nic Rhind, Robert Hobbs and Tyler Johnston and is directed by Neill Blomkamp.
