First Burke and Hare trailer springs to life

10.05.2010

I didn't realize this project was already far along enough to spawn a trailer, but today we have are first spot for BURKE AND HARE, the Andy Serkis and Simon Pegg comedy about a real-life pair of graverobbers (and eventually murderers) in 19th century England.

It's directed by John Landis, best know for THE BLUES BROTHERS, COMING TO AMERICA, and one of my favorite sleeper comedies THREE AMIGOS. This would seem to be a bit of a step outside the box for him, but it does look promising.

Also starring are Isla Fisher with roles for Tim Curry, Christopher Lee and Stephen Merchant as well. It's nice to see Andy Serkis acting without a bunch of glowing mo-cap balls attached to him, and Pegg is always good for a laugh, though I will admit skipping HOW TO LOSE FRIENDS AND ALIENATE PEOPLE.

Check out BURKE AND HARE below:

Extra Tidbit: Oh, I forgot about RUN FATBOY RUN. Maybe he really does need Edgar Wright and Nick Frost at all times?

Glad I read all your comments first. Will avoid the trailers and just watch the movie. Thanks!

Was looking forward to this movie.

Was. The trailer looked horrible. Don't get me wrong, I'm hoping that it's just a bad trailer for a good film. Sure enough have seen plenty of good trailers for bad movies. Fingers crossed on this one. Love Pegg, love Serkis, love Landis, hated trailer.

Not a brilliantly edited trailer, but looks as good as I was hoping for.

With the dark humour throughout An American Werewolf In London I wouldn't class this as out of the box at all for Landis.

Funny trailer. The scene with Pegg and Fisher was hilarious. Movie looks good and the trailer gives me a very Sherlock Holmes type vibe, which is also a great thing.

The movie itself looks hilarious, but whoever made that trailer should be shot out of cannon and into another cannon and then into the sun. The music and editing were just laughably ill chosen.

I laughed

which is usually a good sign for a comedy. And yes, I think that was Ronnie Corbett in there. Tres cool.

Also as much as I love Pegg (and Jessica Hynes and Tim Curry), that trailer was fucking awful.

Extra Tidbit...

I'd say Star Trek and MI:III were decent enough films for Pegg.

Also Big Nothing is a decent little known film with him and David Schwimmer, definitely worth tracking down.
