First clip from The Dark Knight Rises featuring Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Jul. 11, 2012by: George Merchan

Dark Knight this! Dark Knight that! In case you haven't noticed the posters, the (fake) trailers, the musics, the pornos, the blah blah blah; Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is finally coming out next week! Are you excited or what?

If you are, then that means you're probably eating up every little morsel of Batness that's been hitting the web. The latest of which is the first clip from TDKR that premiered on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live", featuring Gary Oldman (looking more Gordon-y than ever) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt... talking! Enjoy!

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES opens July 20th.

Synopsis: It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

Here's a novel idea . . .

Let's wait until AFTER you've seen the movie to pick it apart (I know, it's crazy but it just might work). This movie's looking good so far and I suspect it'll be another feather in Nolan's cap.

My idea to why he's gone

@ muveadict2
Who says he goes into exile for 8 years not caring about crime fighting anymore? Here's my take on why he's not around. If you notice in the trailers most of the time you see Bruce Wayne, he is using a cane to walk around. Then there are other shots where he is in some type of cave and trying to crawl his way out. There's that shot of him and Bane where he says "Why didn't you kill me?"
What I think is going to happen is at the beginning of the movie, Bane will break Batman's

What I think is going to happen is at the beginning of the movie, Bane will break Batman's back or really mess him up to where he can't leave wherever he's left to suffer. And that is why he's gone for 8 years. Just my thoughts. I never really read the comics so I don't know what happens to Batman once his back is broken. I know he gets someone else to fight as him, but I don't think Nolan will take that route.

Im pretty sure it has a lot to do with the end of the Dark Knight when Hardy gets a shot off at Batman. Also the fact that Batman is a wanted man, and that Gordon's unit has picked up the slack, and crime is at a low (hence the scene where they talk about the Mayor replacing Gordon cause "he's a war time general" and isn't needed any more).
Until Bane arrives, that is.

IDK...

I absolutely love Nolan's work but in every director's career there is a miss, maybe this is Nolan's miss, or maybe it's too much hype, which ever one I am not having great expectations from this one. Why would someone with so much passion for crime fighting go into exile for so long? What's all this JGL footage with some unexpected twist (hinting towards him being some sort of side kick)? No matter what you know that this will make buckets at the BO, and the Nolan fan boys will be raving in

Yeah yeah, i can go fuck myself bla bla bla, but it's my opinion and i'm entitled to it.
