First image from Seth MacFarlane's A Million Ways to Die in the West

Jan. 2, 2014by:

Paramount has released the first image from A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST, Seth MacFarlane's upcoming western comedy. The image features MacFarlane, as well as stars Neil Patrick Harris (sporting an excellent moustache), Charlize Theron and Amanda Seyfried. A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST is the second film directed by Seth MacFarlane, and with how well TED performed in theaters ($549 million worldwide, $218 million domestic), expectations are very high for his new movie.

Is this a hoedown or a hootenanny?

Synopsis:

Albert (Seth MacFarlane) is a sheep farmer who lacks courage, losing his beloved girlfriend (Amanda Seyfried) as a result of his withdrawal from a duel. He soon meets another lady (Charlize Theron), and discovers his bravery and confidence. The herder soon realizes his true potential when the lady's spouse (Liam Neeson), an infamous criminal, demands payback.

A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST also stars Liam Neeson, Giovanni Ribisi, and Sarah Silverman, and will hit theaters on May 30th, 2014.

Extra Tidbit: Anyone else think TED was a little overrated?

Not a Seth MacFarlane fan in particular and Ted was okay but very indulgent. I do like the cast he has wrangled up for this one though.

Extra Tidbit

Although I completely enjoyed Ted, I do agree it was a little overrated.

WOW!

I mean this in the most straight fashion - Seth McFarlane's a total hunk in this image - I barely recognized him. Very cool cast to boot. Had no idea this film was this far underway. This will definitely not be a sophomore slump of any kind.

I'm sure this will be funny with the talented cast it has, but I thought Ted was overrated for the most part with only some minimal laughs.

Maybe I need to check it out again...I don't know.

Here's the thing with Seth MacFarlane's comedy, you have to be in on the joke. If you aren't, it is mildly entertaining at best. I thought Ted was average at best. Family Guy is the prime example of this. Some episodes are amazing and some fall totally flat. Ted just didn't make me laugh. It was flat as hell because I didn't understand the jokes about Flash Gordon and I wasn't into the storyline. His comedy might have a few swing and misses, but eventually he's going to get a big hit.

The dude can write, produce, direct, do voiceover work, anything - just as long as he doesn't stick his face on screen.

I just don't get

How a man can have a career on ripping off other creators. Family Guy - Simpsons. Ted and that film students short film. Ted was not funny really with maybe one or two moments it garnered a chuckle. Someday I am sure this film will come out as being a direct Bonanza ripoff too, or Big Valley - time will tell. ;)
