First images from Disney’s animated pic, Frozen, starring Kristen Bell and Jonathan Groff

With the recent sucess of their CGI-animated pics like TANGLED and WRECK-IT RALPH, Disney is bringing yet another entry to the genre with FROZEN, from directors Chris Buck (SURF’S UP, TARZAN) and Jennifer Lee (WRECK-IT RALPH screenwriter), who are serving up an epic-scale, winter-set tale that seems to fit right in line with their reportoirre of films. Today, we have a first look at some images from the film, featuring star Kristen Bell as Anna, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, Josh Gad as Olaf, a lively snowman, and Sven, the fearless reindeer sidekick of Kristoff.

Take a look:

Here’s the synopsis:

When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna (voice of Kristen Bell), a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, an amazing and comedic snowman named Olaf, Everest-like conditions and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

I enjoyed both WRECK-IT RALPH and TANGLED, much more than I thought I would, so I have no reason to doubt that Disney couldn’t deliver the goods yet again with FROZEN. It’s not the most high-concept idea, but I’m more than willing to give it a go if it all comes together in the marketing.

Disney’s FROZEN is set to hit theaters on November 27, 2013.
