With the recent sucess of their CGI-animated pics like TANGLED and WRECK-IT RALPH, Disney is bringing yet another entry to the genre with FROZEN, from directors Chris Buck (SURF'S UP, TARZAN) and Jennifer Lee (WRECK-IT RALPH screenwriter), who are serving up an epic-scale, winter-set tale that seems to fit right in line with their reportoirre of films. Today, we have a first look at some images from the film, featuring star Kristen Bell as Anna, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, Josh Gad as Olaf, a lively snowman, and Sven, the fearless reindeer sidekick of Kristoff.

Take a look:

Here's the synopsis:

When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna (voice of Kristen Bell), a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, an amazing and comedic snowman named Olaf, Everest-like conditions and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

I enjoyed both WRECK-IT RALPH and TANGLED, much more than I thought I would, so I have no reason to doubt that Disney couldn't deliver the goods yet again with FROZEN. It's not the most high-concept idea, but I'm more than willing to give it a go if it all comes together in the marketing.

Disney's FROZEN is set to hit theaters on November 27, 2013.

Not bad!

It also looks like it was made by the same character designer from Paperman. Am I correct?

Disney Animation appears to have found its groove in CGI

Between TANGLED and WRECK-IT RALPH, I'm starting to enjoy what the Mouse House is doing with CGI. Although I'd still love to see more cel animation from Disney; was I the only one who loved WINNIE THE POOH?

It's kinda scary that I'm looking more towards FROZEN than I did for MONSTERS UNIVERSITY. :P

I think Disney Animation has surpassed Pixar in recent years. While I eagerly anticipate every new Disney Animation film, I am less enthusiastic about Pixar's latest. It's interesting to note John Lasseter is making all the decisions at Walt Disney Animation, and he has turned things around for them, but since becoming CCO, Pixar has declined a bit. I wonder if Lasseter invests more time and interest in Disney Animation projects now.

Looking forward to it, I think Tangled was great! But I am not really sold on the animation yet, have to see it in motion to judge.

I liked Brave, but for my money Wreck-it Ralph was the best animated film of last year. I'm glad to see Disney is making a big comeback with their animation.

Looking great!

I hadn't even heard of this movie until this article, but now that I have, I honestly am pretty excited! The art style looks like it is a slightly more realistic Tangled, but it still looks amazing. Tangled was a movie so gorgeously animated that you could take a screenshot at any point in the film and it would look like a beautiful painting. I mean, that movie is just... gorgeous in every respect.

While I don't expect this to reach those same beautiful heights, Frozen so far is certainly

While I don't expect this to reach those same beautiful heights, Frozen so far is certainly looking to be impressive. I love Kristen Bell, too, so that will be fun :)

Bring on another non-Pixar Disney-animated movie! After Wreck-It Ralph and Tangled, I am not worried at all. :D
