First look at Bond villain Javier Bardem from the set of Skyfall

Mar. 12, 2012by: George Merchan

SKYFALL, the next installment in the Bond franchise from director Sam Mendes, has been filming for a while now and so far we've only really gotten glimpses of 007 himself in varying forms of shaggy and handsome cragginess.

But today, new photos from the set of the shoot have revealed Bond's villain Javier Bardem for the first time, seen here sporting a godly blonde hairdo while in the guise of a Metropolitan Police officer. The Daily Mail reveals that his character's name will be 'Silva', though that's also about all we know in regards to him.

SKYFALL is scheduled to open November 9th.

Synopsis: Daniel Craig is back as James Bond 007 in Skyfall, the 23rd adventure in the longest-running film franchise of all time.  In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her.  As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Extra Tidbit: Bardem and those villainy haircuts!

Despite how much I liked Craig's Bond installments (yes, even Quantum of Solace), I always felt the Bond villains to be... a little lacking. It looks like Bardem's "Silva" will be the first worthwhile adversary to Bond in a long while, not some fruit who hides behind his henchmen while he plots to take over the chocolate truffle industry.

God I'm dying even to see the trailer!

He's giving me a Max Zorin vibe. I can't believe we're getting a Bourne and Bond movie this year, it's so exciting!

Looks incredibly good. I'm sure that both director and cast will return to the franchise the prestige that came with 2006 Casino Royale.

I think people might be imagining Anton Chigurh vs James Bond and are setting themselves up to be disappointing. Not saying he won't be good in the role, I just don't think his character will be anything like that.

Sweet. Looks like a cross between Ledger's Joker disguised as a cop and the assassin in the original 'Day of the Jackal.' Terrifying.

Hardy will be a way better Bane no two ways about it. your underestimating hardy's acting,he will nail the part of bane or nolan would not have chosen him

look i'm not saying Hardy won't be awesome in the role. i'm just saying when i think bane (a spanish luchador who worked his way from the bottom wrung to the peak of human potential.) Hardy is not the guy i think of, casting wise Javier made more sense. HArdy i'm sure will be fine.

Bardem can be a very scary villain. A worthy adversary to Mr. Bond, definitely.

This is going to rock. Has there ever been a better cast for a Bond film, or a more respected director for that matter? Kickass.
