First look at Brad Pitt in Cogan's Trade

05.09.2011

I think I've only written one of two articles on COGAN'S TRADE. Both of them I believe had something to do with casting. Now all of a sudden there's a first still from the film and word that it's already wrapped. What the f*ck?! Time blew by pretty fast, or it least it feels that way.

In COGAN'S TRADE, Brad Pitt stars as Jackie Cogan,"the professional enforcer hired to investigate the robbery of a mob-protected poker game perpetrated by two junkies played by Scoot McNairy (”Monsters”) and Ben Mendelsohn (”Animal Kingdom”). Also co-starring are Ray Liotta as the hustler running the game, Richard Jenkins as a lawyer with inside info, James Gandolfini as a washed-up alcoholic hit man, Vincent Curatola as a middle-aged ex-con seeking revenge, plus Bella Heathcote and Sam Shepherd in unknown roles." Andrew Dominik (THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD) was in helmer on this one.

Pitt looks like a hard ass in the still. I would definitely not mess with him, well, I wouldn't mess with Ray Liotta or James Gandolfini either. If you do, it's a good way to find yourself at the bottom of a river or in the trunk of a car.

Extra Tidbit: What would you say is your favorite mob film?

Ray Liotta

I'm most excited to see what Ray Liotta will do in this. The guy is a gifted actor, and he hasn't had a chance to shine since "Narc."

One bad mothafucka

I'm not big on mob movies, but if BP is in it I'll see it. Plus with Dominik directing, I'm there, opening night.

Awesome cast and crew

"Assassination of Jesse James" was amazing, easily one of the best films made in the last ten years

Fav mob film? It has to be The Godfather. Or Goodfellas. Or Casino. Damn it's impossible to pick just one...

Hell of a cast. Pitt looks good in this.

I coulf have sworn that Sam Rockwell and Mark Ruffalo were confirmed to having roles in this.

Looks like this could be what "Miami Vice" should've been.

Dominik is one of the most promising directors out there.

Looks like it could be the coolest mainstream film Brad Pitt has made in about 12 years or it could be a huge piece of shit generic ultra violent mob movie. I'm hoping it's the former.
