First look at JGL from Robert Zemeckis' Philippe Petit biopic The Walk

One upcoming project I'm very excited to check out is THE WALK, Robert Zemeckis' biopic about French high-wire artist Philippe Petit starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The actor recently posted an image of himself and co-star Charlotte Le Bon from the set of THE WALK, giving us a good look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the legendary daredevil.

Wait, how high up is this wire?!

Philippe Petit and his famous 1974 high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York's World Trade Center were the subject of the excellent 2008 documentary MAN ON WIRE and I'm very interested in seeing how Zemeckis will handle Petit's extensive planning for the event, as well as the walk itself, of course.

THE WALK also stars Ben Kingsley, and it will open on October 2, 2015.

Man on Wire is legitimately my favorite documentary.

I get teary-eyed every time. I get why a movie is being made, because it's a fucking amazing story. But I don't get why anyone would want to make it when it was already FLAWLESSLY made with the documentary. It's not like it's all Ken Burns effect and interviews, Philippe Petit documented pretty much the whole goddamn process of planning.
I wonder if they'll keep in the part where Philippe immediately cheats on his girlfriend with some stranger after.the walk and then breaks up with her?

I don't understand the need for this movie, pretty much everything was covered by the documentary.

Wow! For minute there when I saw that pic of JGL in the period-get up, i thought this was going to be Keith Moon biopic. No seriously, he has the look.

They need Will Ferrell to play the "Please Jesus help me" guy who crossed the Grand Canyon.

Man on a Wire is one of my favorite documentaries. And Phlippe Petit is a hilariously candid and inspiring figure. I wasn't exactly itching for a full-on dramatization, but I gotta trust that Zemeckis, who has a proven track record when working with live-action, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who's a bit of a showman himself (like Petit), will do it justice. Either way, for those who haven't seen Man on a Wire, I highly recommend fixing that.
