First look at Mark Hamill's return as The Trickster in The Flash

Back in December, we learned that Mark Hamill would be returning to his villain role as The Trickster on The CW's THE FLASH. Hamill originally played the same character on the original 1990s version of THE FLASH starring John Wesley Shipp as the title character. Shipp now plays Barry Allen's father on the new series.

Hamill will be playing an older version of The Trickster who The Flash needs to leverage when a copycat begins terrorizing Central City. Devon Graye will play the younger Trickster and we now have a first look at set photos of Hamill in character. As you can see above, there are several callbacks to the first Trickster in Hamill's clothing and hairstyle. Below you can see more photos as well as the first look at the new Trickster whose costume seems to fit in better with the updated series.

In all variations, The Trickster is a cross between The Joker and The Riddler and completely over the top. While THE FLASH is not exactly a bastion of high drama, it has so far successfully straddled the line between campy and thrilling. Here's hoping it doesn't dive too far here. I am excited to see Mark Hamill in so many projects like STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE, so I will not complain.

THE FLASH airs Tuesdays on The CW. KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE opens February 13th. STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS hits December 18th.

So looking forward to this. I was in my mid teens during the first Flash TV Series and I remember his character well. It was basically his "joker in training" character regarding his voicework for the animated joker. I love so many things about this new Flash series, but one of the best things is the fact that it nods in respect to the 20 year old series version. This show covers all the bases and feels like all involved are the childhood geeks having just as much fun making it as we all are

I can't remember Hammil the actor in anything other than Star Wars (yes, I watched The Flash 1991 TV series but I can't remember his performance). That said I thought his voice acting as the Joker was incredible.

Hope this Trickster will be a stronger villain compared to Miss Hide and Seek in the latest episode.

Then everyone would be asking, "Why is old Luke Skywalker being a villain here?"

Mark Hamill is such an underrated actor

I know he essentially gave up on Hollywood after becoming a multimillionaire through STAR WARS, but he's such a good actor that I'm always glad to see him in any project. The late Ivern Kershner (EMPIRE STRIKES BACK) was very impressed with Hamill's chops: in his scenes with Yoda, he couldn't hear Frank Oz's lines so Hamill would say his lines, wait several seconds for Yoda's reply, then say his next line.

Can't wait. The show has been getting better and better every week and it's selection of villains is a big, vital reason why.
