First Look: Casting Breakdown for The Grudge Reboot details new characters

Last week we learned that Lin Shaye (INSIDIOUS) had joined Andrea Riseborough, Demian Bichir (THE NUN) and John Cho (THE EXORCIST season 2) in the upcoming reboot of THE GRUDGE from director Nicolas Pesce (THE EYES OF MY MOTHER). 

And today we have a very cool update on the film via a casting rundown which gives us insight into the main characters of the film and their basic profiles. They break down like this:

DETECTIVE GRECCO, Male (35 – 50): A crass homicide detective with a big, loud personality. The sort of guy who’s rude to everyone and thinks its funny. 

OFFICER MICHAELS Male (26 – 50): A uniformed officer who happens upon a couple of crime scenes. 

NURSE, Female (25 – 50): The nurse is doing a routine amnio on Nina, and walking Nina through the process. 

THERAPIST, Female (35 – 50): She was Melinda Flander's Therapist, but also saw Fiona a few times. She meets Detective Muldoon in a diner to discuss the family. 

DR. MAHER, Either (50 – 70): Peter and Nina sit across the desk from DR. MAHER, who delivers the results of the amniocentesis. 

AGENT COLE, Either (25 – 50): Agents Horne, Palmer and Cole close up the movie with their musings about the murders. 

DR. FRIEDMAN, Either (35 – 50): This doctor helps Muldoon with some prescriptions. 

AGENT PALMER, Either: 25 – 50: Agents Horne, Palmer and Cole close up the movie with their musings about the murders. 

ORDERLY, Male (25 – 50): An orderly at the FOUR WINDS HOSPITAL – where Det. Wilson is being kept. 

SOCIAL WORKER, Either (35 – 50): This social worker is on tape talking to Detective Wilson about Melinda's behavioral issues. 

As you can see, the above casting updates hint at other characters such as "Nina", "Melinda Flander", "Fiona", "Detective Muldoon", "Peter", "Agent Horne", and "Det. Wilson" but we can only speculate that these are characters that will eventually be played by Riseborough, Shaye, Cho, and Bichir.

We'll see sooner than later I hope!

A mysterious and vengeful spirit marks and pursues anybody who dares enter the house in which it resides.

Raimi is producing the film with Rob Tapert through their company Ghost House. Schuyler Weiss, Roy Lee, Doug Davison, and Good Universe's Nathan Kahane and Erin Westerman serve as executive producers. Romel Adam is overseeing the project for Ghost House, while Brady Fujikawa does the same for Good Universe.

Pesce's THE GRUDGE is set to begin filming in May.
