First Look: DiCaprio & Pitt in Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Writer/director Quentin Tarantino's latest film, ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, is currently in production, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. DiCaprio stars as a former star of a Western TV series, and Pitt plays his longtime stunt double. And today we have your first look at the two Hollywood heavyweights via DiCaprio himself over on Instagram.

Both are looking suitably 70's-spiffy in their new costumes and I can't wait to see these two play off each other on the big screen. This first look is still enough to let us know that while DiCaprio seems to be playing it fairly straight, I think we're in for another classic Aldo Raine-style caricature via Pitt. At least I hope so!

Check out the first-look pic in full below. And for those who have missed it, Tarantino's new film centers around:

Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), former star of a Western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor… Sharon Tate.

DiCaprio and Pitt's co-stars include Margot Robbie as actress and Manson Family victim Sharon Tate; Burt Reynolds as George Spahn, the man who owned the ranch the Manson Family lived on; Luke Perry as a character named Scotty Lancer; Clifton Collins Jr. as Ernesto the Mexican Vaquero; Keith Jefferson as Land Pirate Keith; 1970s TV Spider-Man Nicholas Hammond as real-life actor/director Sam Wanamaker; Damian Lewis as iconic actor Steve McQueen; Dakota Fanning as Squeaky Fromme, "the Manson disciple who later tried to assassinate President Gerald Ford"; Emile Hirsch as Jay Sebring, a "Hollywood hairstylist who was one of four victims in the Tate murders on Cielo Drive"; Al Pacino as Rick's agent Marvin Schwarz; Scoot McNairy as Western TV show cowboy Business Bob Gilbert; and Michael Madsen as the sheriff in the series DiCaprio starred in.

There are also a handful of actors who have been cast in unspecified roles including Zoe Bell, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Timothy Olyphant, James Marsden, and Julia Butters. ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD is set to reach theatres on the 50th anniversary of the Tate murders, August 9, 2019.
