The House That Jack Built Lars von Trier Matt Dillon

The serial killer film THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT, the latest from controversial filmmaker Lars von Trier, is set to have its world premiere at next month's Cannes Film Festival (where it will be screening out of competition). While it's not clear how long it will be before distributor IFC Films lets those of us who won't be attending Cannes see the movie, a handful of images have arrived online to offer a first look at the film.

Starring Matt Dillon, Uma Thurman, Bruno Ganz, Riley Keough, Siobhan Fallon Hogan, and Sofie Grabol, THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT is set in the 1970s and told

from Jack's point of view. He is a highly intelligent killer who has spent a decade perfecting the art of the perfect murder. But as the police begin to close in, he starts taking greater and greater risks in his attempt to create the ultimate artwork.

In these images, we see Dillon creeping around as Jack, interacting with Thurman and Keough, getting ready to build his house… and dealing with a bloody corpse. It definitely feels like von Trier could be bringing us something disturbing with this one.

We'll let you know when release details are made available.
