First Look: Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack in Stephen King's Cell

03.14.2014

John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson are making CELL their second Stephen King collaboration. The two first made horror magic in 1408. Well, maybe you didn’t think it was horror magic, but I thought it was one of the better flicks of the genre to come out in the past 10 years.

If that one didn’t do too much for you, maybe CELL will. The story centers on ”the fallout when a powerful signal is broadcast across cell phone networks worldwide. The signal re-programs the users’ minds and makes them murderous beasts.” Alright, maybe that sounds less scary. Originally Eli Roth was on to adapt and direct but that fell through. The helming job is now that of Tod 'Kip' Williams of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2, with the screenplay written co-written by King and Adam Alleca (LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT).

The first still from the film comes to us via German horror site, Blairwitch.de. Here we see Cusack, Jackson, Isabelle Fuhrman and Owen Teague in their warm and cozies but looking not so cozy; more uneasy.

Cusack might also have another go at one of King’s novels, the prequel to THE SHINING: DOCTOR SLEEP. The actor is interested in adapting and starring. So maybe we’ll get that.
