Excuse me, I'm recovering from exploding after taking a look at the first set of stills from the DOCTOR WHO 50th Anniversary Special also known as "The Day of The Doctor". More like, the day I peed my pants from excitement. Actually, that will probably happen after I see the first trailer. Sadly, I was not in attendance during Comic Con this year when it was shown for the first time.

Allons-y!:

What can we tell you about the special? As most Whovians may already know, we don't have many details. There will be more insight into who this "Darker Doctor" played by John Hurt is. David Tennant is back. Billie Piper is back. There will be Daleks and Zygons. Matt Smith teased the word "paintings" when asked about the special.

I'm ready. Geronimo!

The DOCTOR WHO 50th Anniversary Special "The Day of The Doctor" hits small screens on November 23, 2013.

The fanbase is so loyal to this show that it really feels like a harsh crime to not be watching it.

I haven't done so yet. I would like you fine men and women to help me understand what the show has to offer me. Why is the show so good?

It's really hard to describe, actually. I started watching a couple years ago when my girlfriend brought it to my attention. I started with Chris Eccleston, and I found it ridiculously cheesy. But I kept wanting to watch it. It's fun. It's optimistic. It's just a wild ride. You just have to stick with it. That 1st season after it was brought back was rough. But you'll be rewarded if you stay on board.

Cross 'Twilight Zone' with 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' and a bit of 'Futurama'... that'll probably give you some idea of where this show's at.

Yes, its 'cheesy' with wacky sets and ridiculous-looking aliens but in this case it serves to make the show endearing and unique. Do not mistake 'cheesy' for 'dumbed down.'

At its core, it is fun, fresh, often funny and always thought-provoking Sci Fi every episode.

You can probably get away with starting with the Matt Smith era (Season 5), and then going back to the Eccleston and Tennant seasons if you connect with it.
