Update: New trailer! First official teaser poster for A Good Day To Die Hard arrives, plus a new image

Oct. 25, 2012by: Paul Shirey

UPDATE: That didn't take long.  Less than an hour after putting up the poster and image, we get a new trailer!  How's that for driving your point home? The trailer sees McClane's journey to Moscow, a brief trip to the airport with his daughter, played by the lovely Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and plenty of explosions, punches, and shootouts to the tune of Beethoven.

Have a look:

Well, get your eye-rolling ready as there is a new poster for A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD, which isn't the worst thing I've ever seen, but the tagline is.  For one, it's not as clever as it thinks it is and two, it's a very good indicator that we are going to get a PG-13 John McClane once again.  Seeing as the last outing was the biggest moneymaker of the entire franchise, that's almost a no-brainer at this point, but we can still hope, I suppose.  Although I'd prefer to see the blood gushing splatters that John McTiernan so mastrfully gave us in the original, I would settle for some rousing action and at the very LEAST, an unedited Yippie-Ki-Yay catchphrase.  I won't hold my breath.

Here's the poster, MotherRussia:

Also, a new image for the film has popped up, featuring both old and young McClane's ready to unleash some firepower, along with their pal who looks to be cannon fodder.  After the first film, I'm sure McClane understands the peril of handing firearms to unknown strangers, so perhaps he's just playing it safe.

Have a look:

I want to remain hopeful as a longtime fan of the series.  What I see happening is simply a shift in the type of DIE HARD we're getting.  The first three films (the first trilogy, if you will) gave us a hard-R action series with plenty of blood, profanity, and hijinks to keep the blood pumping.  This next set of films (the "new" trilogy?) looks to cater to a new crowd, that of the PG-13 crowd (hiring a young male actor to accompany McClane), thereby improving box office and breaking into a new market.  Is that a bad thing?  I guess it depends on which demographic you fall in.

A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD, directed by *sigh* John Moore and starring Bruce Willis, Jai Courtney, Cole Hauser, Yuliya Snigir, and Sebastian Koch is set to charm your heart on February 14, 2013.

For me, parts of DH4 worked, a lot of it didn't. Am I looking forward to 5? No. Will I be there opening day? Yes.

Up in the air about this...

I want to look forward to this but at the moment, I am still not sold. This "poster" is cheesy as hell. The teaser was OK and I am looking forward to a full-length trailer. Undoubtedly I will be in the theaters to check this out. I was one of the few, after-all, who felt Die Hard 4 was a superior film to that of Die Hard 2. However, imo, Die Hard 3 was where it was at - pure awesomeness with Bruce Willis and Sam Jackson.

Love Bruce Willis action!

I don't what it is, but seeing Bruce Willis shooting and blowing things up always makes me smile, he's one of the only action guys who can do that.
With that said I welcome more "Die Hard" films, only make the fucking thing R-rated just like it's main character's mouth has always been. John McClane uses the word "fuck" like it was a comma.

Looks better than 4

An R rating will be the deciding factor if I see it in the theatre or not. Plus I'm loving that ultra cheesy tagline.

Right, so.

The trailer was great fun, I actually enjoyed the slower parts of John being awkward on a plane and awkward in a taxi, it matches perfectly with the John we knew at the beginning of the original movie (and re-enforced in part two). The guy who just struggles to get on with the world around him, be it flying, technology or the understanding of other cultures.

The action looks like it's going to get CG heavy, but as long as there's nothing like the plane scene from DH4 I'll be happy. I enjoyed

The poster is God awful though. I actually don't mind the tagline, it's as cheese ball as this franchise and it's titles/taglines gets, but I do hope it gets better promotional material than that ONE poster/image that DH4 got.

I still wanna see it

I'd like it to be an R rating, but i liked "Live Free or Die Hard" and that was PG13, so i'm ok with this movie

I just wish it would go back to Christmas. The first 2 had Christmas, and the fourth was Independence day, and that was fine. Now it really needs to go back to its roots and be a yuletide action film.

The 14th is a Thursday... that means I can take the missus out on Valentine's Day and still see this Friday! Huzzah!
I'm sold (save for the awful CG jumping out the window shot).

I know it is asking a lot and there would probably be no logical reason for either of the two to be there in any way not even phone call wise, but I would LOVE to see an Al or Zeus cameo in this. Again, there would be no need but I really invested in those characters. Hell, even Al jr would work for me!

Intriqued

The action looks more gritty than the 4th which is a good thing and CGI was mostly absent. Keep it practical as possible, keep R, and give us a decent story. Thats all I want.

It's sad that...

This trailer, which actually features very little of the plot and dialogue, looks less promising than the first which featured pretty much none. I'm still psyched to see Willis in action again. He was back in form in Looper, after seeming bored in the last few movies I caught him in. Hopefully the more we see in the future will give us more to look forward to. I'm just hoping that them taking it to Russia isn't just a cheap attempt to play out a bad plot with bigger action scenes to

I'm just hoping that them taking it to Russia isn't just a cheap attempt to play out a bad plot with bigger action scenes to distract us from the fact that the story sucks. LFODH was wall to wall action, but the story wasn't well developed, so great action sequences was the only thing keeping the film afloat... That was a non issue with the first 3. The action scenes were well planned and far enough apart that there had to be a good script and story. It's not hard to make a sequel to the last film... Let's just hope they paid enough attention to the ones before it.

Looks like it could be better then the last one, I did enjoy the last one as well. I find it weird that its being released in Feb and not like spring time.
