UPDATED: First pic of Naomi Watts as Lady Diana in the biopic Caught in Flight is stunningly accurate
UPDATE: Two more pics added below.
The first image of Naomi Watts in character as Lady Diana has shown up online and features a stunning comparison to the real Diana, albeit a few discrepancies. Watts is playing the iconic former Princess of Wales in the film CAUGHT IN FLIGHT, which follows Diana's affair with Dr. Hasnat Kahn, played by Lost's Naveen Andrews, which lasted from 1995 until just before her death in 1997. Kahn was known as the love of Diana's life and the script plays heavily into that aspect, showing Diana "as a damaged person who stalks the doctor after he ends the affair."
Interesting. The pic is directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel (DOWNFALL) and written by Steven Jeffreys (THE LIBERTINE) and is likely to stir the pots of Diana worshippers everywhere. There's no denying the influence she had over the masses during her lifetime, with so many seemingly obsessed with her every move, which arguably led to her untimely death.
Here's the pics (and comparison):
Watts is one of my favorite actresses and I wish she were in more high-profile projects. This seems to suit her well, though, and I have no doubt she'll nail her portrayal of the late Diana. Although a biopic about Lady Diana wasn't at the top of my list (and still isn't, really), I'm intrigued by what I see here and look forward to seeing some images in motion. It could be a good, dark tale or a silly BBC made-for-TV movie. The jury's still out.
CAUGHT IN FLIGHT is slated to be released sometime in 2013.
I still prefer Watts like this, but that's just me...
|Extra Tidbit:||What famous person do you want to see a biopic about? I'd like to see them tackle Michael Jackson just to see if they could do it and how far they'd go in doing so. Maybe have PTA direct it? Whoa.|
