First reactions to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hit social media

03.21.2016

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Zack Snyder Henry Cavill Ben Affleck Gal Gadot Banner

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE had its premiere screening last night, and the early reactions to the highly-anticipated MAN OF STEEL follow-up are very positive, with some calling it one of the best comic book movies ever. A little much? Perhaps, however it certainly sounds like they really enjoyed the film! Those in attendance also praised Ben Affleck's take on The Dark Knight, as well as Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, whose entrance received a huge applause from the audience.

Now, we should remember that we can't always trust the first social media reactions to a movie (lest we forget those early FANTASTIC FOUR tweets), and it'll be interesting to see what the critics have to say once the review embargo is lifted.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will be in theaters this Friday.

LOL at the lesbians trying to hype up Wonder Woman.

They keep saying she was the best part of the movie...well I guess when you are biased, that's what you saw. I had the luxury to see this, and she was NOT the highlight of the movie. I will tell you that much. Freaking awesome though, and I recommend you go see this movie.

For what it's worth.....

The first place I saw this story was on a reviewer's web site. He said that he couldn't comment until the official review tomorrow, BUT these were the tweets after the film.

If a serious reviewer thinks it sucked, he wouldn't put up just the positive reviews on his site. He'd put a mix of the good and bad so that people wouldn't feel like they were being scammed.

Well... we'll see soon enough if the hype is real. I just hope they did something good with that Cavetroll.

...anyways, I'll wait til the reviews come out. Hopefully the review on Joblo isn't biased like most of their reviews.

Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel could be resurrected from the motherfucking dead and give it a glowing review and there would still be people talking shit. If you aren't sold at this point to at least check it out, then just stay your ass home and keep quiet when everybody is discussing the movie a few days from now.

And for those that say there was no positive buzz for FF like this, a small ltip, JoBlo has a search box which leads to:

But for the 100th time, there were also positive early tweets for movies like Star Wars 7 and Deadpool. I'm not denying those FF tweets exist, I'm saying they don't mean shit and shouldn't effect people's opinion of the movie. Don't lump BvS into the same toilet as FF when this happens for just about every big event film released these days.

To all the maniacs who cleared did a little too much meth today and talking about all the positive comments and tweets linked to Fantastic Four before it came out, can I ask you. When in the blue hell was there EEEEEEVVER anything positive being said about FF? When ? I remember one positive mention a couple of weeks before the movie came out. One comment. And it was an obvious plant. The studio was in full damage control months before it came out. Everyone involved with the movie when asked

You know what really got to me about FF was when it was released on DVD/BR for some damn reason people were buying that atrocity. Literally the shelves were almost empty at BestBuy and Target. What the hell is wrong with people giving them money for this BS.

Fantastic Four had the same positive early buzz. It had early tweets that read almost the same as these. It means nothing.

I'm hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. After MoS I have no interest in this movie at all, short of it having stunning reviews.

There's no need to bother with the haters if they haven't even seen the movie yet. The people who make judgments of a movie before they've seen it aren't really worth the time to listen to; they're like children, forming their opinions ignorantly. Whether the movie is good or bad, that type will stick to their baseless opinions with a blind disregard for the quality of the movie; because they don't bother putting any real thought into their judgments. Again, their judgment of the movie isn't

Good job

I don't really give much weight to the early twitter reactions, but if the movie really is good, and better than Man of Steel (as I've seen in some comments), then it would seem that they may have listened to the criticism towards MoS and stepped up their game. “Good job” to them for listening to and addressing the criticisms; and to the critics for pushing them into doing better (like getting rid of Goyer.)

It's pretty rare that early tweets give bad reviews of a movie. Drew McWeeney said a few weeks ago that the reactions "weren't as good as WB hoped" and considering he liked MoS, he has no reason to give the movie a bad buzz.

I expect a MoS type of reactions: many people will call it the best superhero movie ever but it will struggle to get to "Fresh" on the Tomato meter and many fans will hate it.

Also, Batman-on-Film, Mark Hughes of Forbes clarified that "article" with involved a lot of speculation. Since then some more reliable sources like Collider, Forbes and Variety said they've heard that feedback of people who saw it is very positive.
It's all hearsaying, but beside Drew McWeeney nobody reported any negative response, quite the opposite.

Apparently, Devin Faraci heard similar things and reported so before McWeeney.

As for that alleged McWeeney tweet, I have a hard time believing that. He doesn't have a history of pitting movies against each other, he has been a particularly staunch defender of Zach Snyder, and tweeting he reported false news because he had an agenda would be a pretty idiotic way of making a career suicide.

Still, my prediction stands. Man of Steel had a great buzz prior its release and it all stopped once

@SpartanPete

Trolls are usually coherent about who they attack. They don't write articles saying "if you think Zach Snyder is a bad filmmaker, you don't know anything", then invent bad buzz for his next film a few weeks later.

Whatever you think of McWeeney as a journalist, the guy likes Zach Snyder.

To everybody saying "This happened with Fantastic Four" or "This is a bad marketing strategy"... these same kind of tweets came out for Star Wars and Deadpool, too. Just go see the movie. If you aren't interested in seeing it by now, neither good or bad tweets would have changed your mind about it.

Dachande, with a movie like Room or 10 Cloverfield Lane I'd agree with you, but this film's marketing campaign has been going on for so long, been so persistent, and revolves around such beloved characters, that I'm sure most people (especially those who frequent sites like this) have already made up their mind about whether or not they're buying a ticket. If all the above tweets said the movie was trash, I'd still be there opening weekend. And yes, for all we know these are marketing bots or

These must be your "casual" movie goer reviews so take them as you will but from what I understand the critic embargo lifts Tuesday. I encourage people to see the movie no matter what anyone says though, make your own opinion. If you want to see it, see it. If you're not excited about it then wait. Never let the critics or fans make up your mind, go see it and make up your own decision :)

You don't let them make up your mind, but if you read what they say (at least the summaries), a pattern of negative comments all stressing the same thing can be a good indicator that there are real problems.

As much as I want BvS to be amazing. You just can't trust Tweets as the general consensus of a film. Fantastic Four and Dumb and Dumber To are two examples how they were applauded on Twitter and both were huge disappointments.

I am more optimistic here because there haven't been stories of behind the scenes turmoil like FF did and of course not every thing that we have been shown has been a complete shit show. If I remember correctly Age of Ultron Tweets were pretty accurate to how people felt. I know that's not promising considering how mixed Age of Ultron was received but at least they were true and Avengers first Tweets said it was great. These initial Tweets sometimes are accurate other times not. Hopefully here
