First set pics from Peter Berg's Lone Survivor show off Mark Wahlberg, Eric Bana, Emile Hirsch and more in uniform

After the horrid experience of BATTLESHIP, director Peter Berg, who has proven to be a formidable filmmaker in the past (see: THE RUNDOWN, THE KINGDOM, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS) is ready to bounce back with LONE SURVIVOR, based on the real-life event of Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, who was the sole survivor of a recon mission gone bad. Mark Wahlberg is playing Luttrell, with a solid supporting cast to back him up, including Eric Bana, Taylor Kitsch, Ben Foster, Alexander Ludwig, and, judging from the pic below, Jerry Ferrara (Entourage, BATTLESHIP), who has yet to be listed.
LONE SURVIVOR has been filming in New Mexico and a slew of set pics have rolled in, featuring shots of all the main cast in character, capturing the real-life look of the Navy SEALS they're portraying. Overall, they look spot on, and it's great to see this film being made.
Here's the pics:

Here's the book synopsis:
Four US Navy SEALS departed one clear night in early July 2005 for the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border for a reconnaissance mission. Their task was to document the activity of an al Qaeda leader rumored to be very close to Bin Laden with a small army in a Taliban stronghold. Five days later, only one of those Navy SEALS made it out alive.
This is the story of the only survivor of Operation Redwing, SEAL fire team leader Marcus Luttrell, and the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history. His squadmates fought valiantly beside him until he was the only one left alive, blasted by an RPG into a place where his pursuers could not find him. Over the next four days, terribly injured and presumed dead, Luttrell crawled for miles through the mountains and was taken in by sympathetic villagers who risked their lives to keep him safe from surrounding Taliban warriors.
This is a must-see for me. As a Veteran and a film geek, it's beyond awesome to see such a great team of actors under the helm of a kick ass director (minus that whole BATTLESHIP mess) and telling a hard-fought, true-life, war story. It's my hope that it will be a great film and a solid tribute to the fallen Sailors it's portraying.
LONE SURVIVOR is currently filming and will be released sometime in 2013.
| Extra Tidbit: | Can you forgive Berg for Battleship? I think he's allowed one hiccup, especially since he made that hiccup for the studio in order to make Lone Survivor. |

Isn't Battleship Berg's 2nd Hiccup?
Who's the blonde kid trying to own every picture he's in?
Wonder if...?
That being said, this movie is undoubtedly in the right hands and Peter Berg has been extremely enthusiastic about getting it made for years.

Also I think that's Emile Hirsch not Taylor Kitsch
Sounds good but hey blonde guy
This whole SEAL fad is funny. They aren't exactly the shining beacon of spec ops.
